From the Principal.... Matt Clark
Good afternoon TMS parents and guardians. As we bid farewell to another productive week at Thompson Middle School and welcome the weekend, let's take a moment to reflect on the exciting happenings and important reminders from the past few days.
Admin Team Pod Talks:
This week, our administrative team had the pleasure of meeting with students from each team during Tutorial on Tuesday. These sessions served as invaluable opportunities to connect with our Thunder students, discuss important updates, and set the tone for the weeks ahead. During our Pod Talks, we reinforced the principles of the Thunder Way and our Guidelines for Success (Perseverance, Responsibility, Respect, Kindness, and Teamwork). These principles serve as the guiding light for our Thunder community. To embody these values, we encourage our students to be prepared for class, focus on classwork, ending the school year in a strong, positive fashion, show kindness to others, respecting property (i.e. Chromebooks, supplies, furniture, etc.), and celebrating the uniqueness of their peers.
March Madness Attendance Challenge:
During our Pod Talks we were also excited to announce the launch of our March Madness Attendance Challenge! By emphasizing the importance of punctuality and attendance, we're encouraging our Thunder students to finish the school year with a flourish. Let's rally together and cheer them on as they strive for excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
Looking Ahead: Illinois Readiness Assessment (IAR):
With the final quarter of the school year on the horizon, our Thunder students will soon be gearing up for the Illinois Readiness Assessment (IAR) following spring break. It's a chance for them to showcase their academic prowess and demonstrate their readiness for the challenges ahead. We're confident that with determination and dedication, they'll excel on these tests.
At Thompson Middle School, we take immense pride in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where every Thunder student can thrive. Together, we make TMS the extraordinary place that it is.
As we head into the weekend, let's continue to celebrate the achievements of our Thunder students and look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
Wishing you all a restful and rejuvenating weekend,
Dr. Matt Clark
Principal
Please Complete the Illinois 5 Essentials Survey
Dear TMS Parents and Guardians:
One of the ways I get feedback is through the Illinois 5 Essentials Survey. Each year parents take this survey to let us know how we are doing as a school, and how I am doing as a leader.
Can you please take 10 minutes to complete this survey? I like to get to about 50% of our parents/guardians taking this survey, so the sooner we hit that target, the sooner I can quit asking you!
Here is the link to the survey. It is in Spanish and English.
Please be sure to put in Kane County as our county so you can find Thompson. Also, please read the questions and possible answers carefully as they sometimes mix up the "importance" of the responses.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Matt

D303 Boundary Updates
The District 303 Board has approved boundary maps for elementary, middle, and high schools. Maps are effective with the 2024-2025 school year beginning this fall. The Board's decision completes a process that began last fall to reduce school overcrowding and help to ensure equitable learning experiences across the District. District 303 had contracted with demographer RSP & Associates to create concept maps based on Board-approved guiding principles and community feedback. Please see the parent notice from Superintendent Gordon to learn more and review the approved maps.
