The musical, featuring the dance style of Bob Fosse, comes alive with fun carnival costumes, spectacular scenery and the story of a young prince on a journey of self-discovery. Tickets are on sale at this link or visit CoSASanDiego.com.
āPippin is a great musical for an ensemble, so much dancing,ā said Barbara Wolf, Department Chair for Musical Theatre and Drama. āThere are lots of really great group numbers. Guests will enjoy the Bob Fosse-inspired choreography. His dances are so specific and detailed. The hips, the feet, the hats and canes!ā
Pippin is a 1972 musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson. As of January 2024, the original run of Pippin is the 37th longest-running Broadway show.

The Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) Conservatory of Classical and Contemporary Dance invites audiences to Mobilize, an engaging performance that combines the power of the arts with activism to promote social change. The show, a collaboration with Emerald Keepers, takes the stage May 17th and 18th at 7pm at the Coronado Performing Arts Center at 650 D Avenue. Tickets are available here and at CoSASanDiego.com.
āThis evening of dances is inspired by, concerned about and aimed at protecting our most valuable resource, our planet,ā said Gina Bolles Sorensen, CoSA Dance Director. āCoSA Dance is pleased to collaborate with Emerald Keepers, the only civic non-profit organization in the City of Coronado whose sole purpose is to address local needs related to environmental stewardship and sustainability.ā
Sorensen says that one notable piece in the program is called āLanding Place,ā which features the full-17 member CoSA Dance ensemble in an exploration of sustainable farming practices. The concert also celebrates CoSA Danceās graduating seniors with five spotlight solos.
According to Sorensen, the performance embodies the idea of āartivism,ā which blends the words of āartā and āactivism.ā
āIt makes sense that the arts and activism go hand in hand, as a creative expression is often an effective means to cultivate awareness, generate conversation, and inspire change,ā said Sorensen.

CoSA FOUNDATION

Dear CoSA Parents,
Spring has sprung and it is critical that CoSA Foundation ends the year strong in our
fundraising efforts. As you know from our shows and exhibitions, CoSA provides a high-
caliber program, which prepares our students for a career in the arts-in any field, for
that matter. CoSA offers six conservatories, each of which features small class size,
professional-grade equipment, and state-of-the-art facilities, all taught by professional
teaching artists. This top-notch education and its extended school day require financial
support from our partners, including the families of CoSA students.
A common misconception is that CoSA's programs are fully funded by the Coronado
Unified School District. Although CoSA does receive support from CUSD, it does not
come close to covering all of CoSA's expenses. This is where the non-profit CoSA
Foundation steps in, providing the remainder of the funding. The Foundation raises
revenue through grant applications, donations from community partners, fundraisers,
and ticket sales. However, family contributions comprise approximately half of the
Foundation's funds.
We ask that each family make an annual contribution of $2,000 per student to the CoSA
Foundation so that we can continue providing the quality arts education for which CoSA
is known. This equates to a fraction of what a family would pay for this high-caliber
training elsewhere. We understand that not all families can donate the full amount
needed, but ask that each family contribute to the extent it is able. Our goal is 100%
participation, at some level, from all CoSA families.
If vou have not vet donated. you can make a one-time contribution on our secure
website, CoSAFoundation.org/Parents, or call us and we can help. Please ask us about
arranging for matching contributions from your employer, which can make a big impact.
If you have contributed or set up a recurring payment in past school years, these do
not roll over automatically to the current year. All donations are tax-deductible to the
extent permitted by law.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Heather Nunnelley in the CoSA
Foundation office at (619) 522-6202.
Sincerely,
The Officers, Directors, and Staff
