WEEK of March 4-8
GMS Information and Announcements
PIC OF THE WEEK:
From the Principal's Desk
As February gives way to March, anticipation fills the air at GMS as we welcome spring sports. For our middle schoolers, this season signifies a time for exploration and personal growth, with sports serving as catalysts for new experiences. Stepping onto the vibrant greens of the golf course, the bustling lanes of the track, or the manicured diamond of the baseball and softball fields, our students embark on a journey of self-discovery and development.
At GMS, we believe all students can learn and grow as athletes. Regardless of prior experience or natural ability, every student can find a welcoming environment to thrive, whether they've never swung a golf club or aren't the fastest sprinter in the school. It's a season where students step out of their comfort zones, try new things, and forge new friendships while honing their athletic skills and building confidence. Through this journey, they also learn to balance high academic and behavioral standards, discovering what it means to be a GMS Greene Devil.
So, as we embark on this thrilling season, let's unite in unwavering support, rallying behind our student-athletes with cheers and encouragement at every turn, because, at GMS, we know, success is measured by more than wins and losses. Here's to a season ripe with growth, camaraderie, memorable moments, and the electrifying thrill of the game. Go Greene Devils!

PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE FOCUS:
8th GRADE INVITED TO GTC OPEN HOUSE
Dear 8th Grade Students:
· Do you enjoy hands-on learning?
· Would you like smaller classes geared towards your interests?
· Are you interested in a high-tech, high-pay job after high school?
Greene Technology Center might be the right fit for YOU!
GTC students learn real world skills. These skills are the real ‘work’ in any job: Using tools, taking measurements, handling materials. Reading how to do these things in a book is good preparation, but it takes practicing it in a lab or workshop to master.
GTC has 11 career programs focuses on career and technical education.
Check out GTC and our classrooms on March 7th for a one-on-one experiential tour. Bring your family and your curiosity for an evening full of fun.

GMS Staff Shout Out Recognition
Check out the great things the GMS staff does every day to make GMS a special place!
Aynnie Miller
Being Proactive
Adjusting to math this year has been a struggle because my way and the way my daughter has been taught since she started school are vastly different. Mrs. Miller is always there to help and give resources to aide us both. She’s hands down one of the best teachers my daughter has ever had!
Starla Angel
Synergizing
Starla is Awesome! Starla helped out with dismissal for my kids on a day that I had to be out. Starla is always willing to help anytime she knows someone is out in our classroom she is asking what she can do to help us.
Alex Standridge
Synergizing
Alex help with dismissal for my kids this week because I was out at a training. Alex is always willing to help out. If she knows that someone in our classroom is out she will always come and check and see what she can do to help us out.
Do You Have A GMS Shout-Out to Share?
GMS is full of amazing people and we would love to hear your stories of how a GMS staff member is making a difference for your student! Did your student talk about a cool lesson or activity? Does your student come home talking about a favorite coach or teacher? If so, click the link above to share some love and fill out the GMS Staff Shout-Out Form!
CONGRATULATIONS TO Dr. MOORE ON HER RECOGNITION AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
GRADES and POWERSCHOOL REMINDER
- ALL missing assignments will be entered as a "0," so the missing assignment is accurately reflected in the students' overall grade. This includes missing assignments from absences.
- This does not mean they will not be able to make up their work, but simplifies the process of knowing what is missing and what is not from any absence or lack of completing an assignment.
- It is your student's responsibility to check Canvas and talk with their teacher about missing work when absent.
- All teachers will update grades weekly for on time assignments with late assignments updated within the next week.
- If you do not see grades for your student on a weekly basis, please let a GMS Administrator know.
- If you need help with PowerSchool, email Danielle Stephens, stephensd@gcschools.net and she will assist you.

Afternoon Car Rider Pick-Up
In order to streamline and ensure the safety of our afternoon car rider pick-up process, we kindly remind all parents that every car rider must possess a CarRiderPro tag. This tag is crucial as it is automatically scanned upon entry into the car line, allowing the names of students to populate on a list visible within classrooms. Please be informed that students are not dismissed from their classrooms until their name appears on the CarRiderPro list. Additionally, to prioritize the safety of our students and staff and to comply with state law, we remind drivers that cell phone use is not permitted in the carline; therefore, please refrain from texting students while in the carline.
In addition, we've made acquiring replacement or additional CarRiderPro tags convenient for all families. These tags can be purchased for $5 through our school website. Simply click on the "Parents" tab and select the online store option. Once purchased, tags can be picked up by a parent or guardian at the school office the following day. Thank you for your cooperation in utilizing these tags to streamline our car pick-up process and uphold safety standards for our school.
