Scholarship Application for Housing at UNL
The intent of the scholarship is to assist women who live 3 or more hours drive from Lincoln but wish to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Applicant must reside in Love Memorial Cooperative Residence Hall on East Campus.

Application deadline: postmarked or email a PDF file no later than March 15, 2024.
Northern Panhandle Public Speaking Contest - 4/14/24
This year for the speech contest, Sioux County is joining the other North Panhandle Counties for a joint event. The contest will be held on Sunday, April 14th at 1 pm at the Performance Art Center at the Alliance High School. Youth will be able to compete in Presentations, Speeches, and Public Service Announcements. Counties will be judged individually. Purple ribbon winners will be eligible to complete at the Premier Communication Event, which is the statewide Public Speaking Contest. This contest is in Lincoln on June 17-18. All counties will be judged individually. Registrations forms are attached below and are due to Melissa Mracek at mmracek2@unl.edu by April 5th.
The Premier Communication Event and will be a two-day event held on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus on Monday, June 17th & Tuesday, June 18th. For more information visit: https://4h.unl.edu/premier-communication-event
Summer Camp Opportunities
Wilderness Wonders Camp - May 23-24
Join us for a fun CSI Predator versus Prey camp experience at Camp Norwesca.
- May 23 - is for youth entering into grades 3rd- 5th. The camp is from 9 am to 4 pm with a $40 fee.
- May 24 - youth who are 5-7 years old. This camp will be from 9 am to 3 pm with a $40 fee.
Registration forms are due by May 3rd This camp fills up fast so please return the registration form by emailing Melissa Mracek at mmracek2@unl.edu.
Next Level LOG N
A high school member looking to increase your leadership skills even more? Join us for Next Level LOG N Camp. Youth in grades 8-9 grade will have the opportunity to travel to Lincoln (transportation provided) for an ultimate leadership experience. This three day camp will only cost $75! Youth will also get to see campus besides learning about different ways they can impact their community and participating in a very cool Challenge Course. Leadership Opportunities for Growth in Nebraska 4-H (LOG N)
Increase your leadership skills by attending this two day camp at Cedar Point near Ogallala, Nebraska. Youth from all over the Panhandle will come together to gain new leadership skills. The fee for the camp is $80. Please reach out to Melissa Mracek at mmracek2@unl.edu if you have any questions.
Fort Robinson Horse Camp
This year it is the 50th year for the Fort Robinson 4-H Horse Camp. Save the Date to join in all the fun this year on June 6-8th. Registration Forms will be coming soon!
Big Red Camps
Big Red Camps are for high school students who want to get some experience in a potential career. Scholarships are available to help assist with tuition when you register. New this year, a 4-H Educator from the south Panhandle will be leading a camp and is willing to help transport youth back and forth to Lincoln. Please contact the office if you are interested in this opportunity as there are only 6 spots available. Sessions for this summer include:

March 4-H Workshop
It is the Clover Kids turn for a workshop. This workshop will be full of fun, hands on activities for youth ages 5-7. The fee will be $5. The workshop will be from 3:45 pm until 5:15 pm at the Extension Office. Please register by March 14th by contacting Melissa at mmracek2@unl.edu.
New 4-H Council Members are needed
We have one adult and one to two youth Council member positions open for the new year. Members attend monthly Council meetings, provide input and advice to the Sioux County 4-H program, and help advise the Council budget. Youth need to be ages 12 and above. Youth serve a one year team and adult serve a three year term. Please reach out to Melissa Mracek at mmracek2@unl.edu if interested in serving.
2024 Summer 4-H Camps
Get Ready to Experience - The Power of Being Green!!
We are excited to have youth join us across the state again, with opportunities to experience camp with a more tailored age cohort.
Have a first time or younger camper? This year we are introducing a new camp session for our youngest camper. They'll get a taste of camp with 3 days jam packed full of learning and fun at 4-H camp!
Our older campers will have our traditional 5 day camp with more time to explore what it means to be clover green! We'll focus on how we can use our head, heart, hands, and health to make the world we live in a better place.
