As the season changes, so do the illnesses!

Some things to consider and some helpful information from the CDC

Strep can present in more ways than just a sore throat. Often children will complain of a

stomach ache and/or headache.

What most people call “stomach flu” is more commonly caused by Norovirus, and has no

relation to the flu virus. Please see the attached link. Norovirus is highly contagious and

spreads quickly!

We are not out of flu season yet! See the attached link for information on the flu.

Children must be fever free for 24 hrs WITHOUT THE USE OF MEDICATIONS to return to

school.

Any student with symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea should also be symptom free for 24

hrs before returning to school. Children who have vomiting and/or diarrhea should take a

careful approach to what they eat once symptoms are resolved.

Talk to your kids about handwashing!

Safety Concerns

Safety for our students and staff is something we take very seriously here at NMS. Please talk to your children about the seriousness of making threatening comments regarding students, staff, or the school. No comments will be handled as a joke here at Nippersink Middle School and law enforcement will be contacted if comments are made or shared on social media. Please contact the office or use our website if you have a safety concern. Safety concerns can be submitted on the website HERE
