Good Morning OES families!
Students returned from vacation with lots of smiles, and appeared happy to be back with their classmates. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces!
Although it was a short 3 day week - we were very busy!
On Thursday afternoon, students in grades 3-6 visited Barton Graded school for a Theatrical Performance by TIGER (Theatre Integrating Guidance, Education, and Responsibility). The TEAM UP TOGETHER! performance focused on helping children develop strategies for what to do in difficult interpersonal interactions, as well as to embrace the the importance of working together in order to experience success.
Our 8th graders also spent some time working on the layout of their yearbook, writing acrostic poems, and working on class superlatives with me. We shared a lot of laughs as they developed a poem for me!
The week wrapped up with a day of winter activities. The weather was fantastic for skiing and snowboarding, although we could definitely use more snow on the mountain. The last scheduled day for Burke Mountain is this Friday (March 15th). Our skating group will not be able to visit the Fenton Arena on Friday. The rink has closed. We will have activities for the skaters at school instead. In the event that Burke Mountain will not be able to accommodate the students, our Friday schedule will be a normal school day.
OES will be hosting a "Mathemagical Evening" on Thursday (March 14th) from 5:30 - 6:30. Teachers will be sharing games, activities, and resources that you can use at home with your children. Math kits will be available for you to take home. These kits will include manipulatives and instructions you will need to play these games in your own home. In honor of National PI Day, we will be serving pie!
