Attendance Incentives- April 30th
Walton High recognizes the importance of attendance and its correlation with school success, so we're implementing the following incentive program from March 25 to April 30 to emphasize that EVERY DAY COUNTS.
- 100% attendance challenge each class period
- Students present all day will earn an entry for weekly drawings (gift cards, free snack passes, free athletic admissions, etc.)
- Students with two or less absences will earn a field trip to Dave & Buster's
NWFSC Dual Enrollment Registration
Summer 2024 / Fall 2024 NWFSC dual enrollment registration is just around the corner! Ms. McKie’s online appointment book for dual enrollment will go live on Monday, April 1, with the first available appointment on Monday, April 8.

Grade Level Meetings
The next grade-level meetings for the 4th quarter will be held on April 5:

Cheer Tryout Info
Attention students interested in cheering next year: 📣
There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting in the WHS gym on Monday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. Parents unable to attend this meeting must make arrangements with Mrs. Zodrow (850-892-1270 / 850-830-1035 / zodrowca@walton.k12.fl.us) to meet, discuss, and sign the required paperwork.
- Monday, April 8 – 3:30-5:30 – learn the dance
- Tuesday, April 9 – 3:30-5:00 – learn the cheer/stunt/jumps
- Wednesday, April 10 – 3:30-4:30 – stunting/material review
- Thursday, April 11 - possible open gym time (if needed)
- Friday, April 12 - 3:45-until - tryouts
* Students must have a current physical on file & a minimum 2.5 GPA to participate.
* Cost to tryout is $15 – This money is to pay for judges (NCA/UCA staff members, college coaches, college cheerleaders).

Construction Career Day- Sign-up by April 9
A Construction Career Day will be held at the Santa Rosa County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, April 17. This event is open to Walton High School juniors and seniors interested in careers in the construction industry. During this event, students will get a chance to meet industry professionals; discover the wide range of opportunities in the construction & engineering industry; participate in small group learning labs; and engage in hands-on activities with heavy machinery & equipment.
Lunch & a gift bag will be provided, as well as bus transportation to the Santa Rosa County Fairgrounds. The sign-up sheet and permission form for this event are located in the SSA office. Students must be in good standing with their academics in order to participate. Completed permission and extracurricular forms are must be turned in to the SSA office by Tuesday, April 9.

Career Fair- April 12
Exciting Opportunities Await: Join us at the EPIC Career Fair!
We are thrilled to announce the inaugural EPIC Career Fair, a collaborative effort between Freeport High School, Walton High School, and WISE Magnet School. The EPIC Career Fair promises to be a dynamic platform for meaningful engagement, where we'll guide and empower our juniors & seniors toward a successful transition into post-secondary life.
The EPIC Career Fair is scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Tivoli Gym in DeFuniak Springs. Walton High School juniors will attend the event from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and seniors will attend the event from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. We've invited businesses from the surrounding areas to attend and show students the different careers and opportunities in Walton County. Prior to the fair, we'll be hosting a series of workshops during Project Red Carpet designed to equip students with essential skills such as resume building and interview tips, ensuring they're well prepared to engage potential employers at the Career Fair.
We are inviting all WHS juniors and seniors to join us for our EPIC Career Fair! Permission forms will be given to juniors & seniors during 1st period on Tuesday, March 26. Extra permission forms will be available in the SSA office for dual enrollment students. Permission forms for this event must be turned in to the SSA office by Tuesday, April 9.
Together, we hope this event will jump start our students' professional journeys beyond high school as we aim to educate, empower, and inspire them for the future.
CLT Information
Walton High School will offer the CLT (Classic Learning Test) on Thursday, April 11; Wednesday, April 24; and Saturday, May 11. Students are encouraged to take this exam if they need to meet requirements for Florida Bright Futures; Florida college/university entrance exams; NWFSC dual enrollment placement; and the Algebra 1 EOC/Grade 10 FSA ELA/FAST graduation provision. Students may sign up in the SSA office. Seats are limited. The last day to sign up is seven school days before the test day. Test scores will be available for pick up in SSA five school days after the day of the test.
Senior Signing Day- Sign-up by April 24
Walton High School's 6th Annual Senior Signing Day will be held in the gym on Friday, May 3, at 2:45 p.m. Seniors that have been accepted into a college/university/technical college, have committed to enlist in the military, or are planning to start a career will be acknowledging their intent & signing their college/military/career acceptance certificates of recognition. Seniors, we encourage you to wear your college colors, t-shirts, caps, etc., as we celebrate your accomplishments.
Wednesday, April 24, is the last day to sign up (in the SSA office) to be recognized and participate in our Senior Signing Day for the Class of 2024.

Morning Drop-Off
Our back gates will open at 7:15 a.m. each morning to allow parents to drop off their students. Students will be able to enter the cafeteria or back porch area at this time. We will not allow students to enter the building prior to 7:15 a.m.
