Honeoye CentralSchool District March 29, 2024

Dear Honeoye Central School District Community,

I hope this message finds you well. As we continue the superintendent search process for the Honeoye Central School District, I would like to introduce some of the tools we will be using for information gathering as well as an updated search timeline.

Superintendent Search Survey:

Your thoughts and feedback matter! Through the search process, the Board of Education is committed to gathering comprehensive information to support a successful superintendent search. One way feedback will be collected is through the Superintendent Search Survey. The Board of Education asks that students, staff, alumni, families, and community members please provide feedback on the expectations and priorities for the next Superintendent.

The Superintendent Search Survey can be accessed from March 29 - April 19, 2024, at www.wflboces.org/honeoye or at https://tejoin.com/scroll/452776454.

April 16, 2024 - Day in the District and Community Forum:

On April 16, 2024, the Superintendent Search Consultant team will spend the day in the District, having conversations and gathering feedback from staff, students, parents, and the community. The full schedule is finalized and will be shared with school faculty and staff closer to the event.

The search consultant team will host a community forum on the afternoon of April 16, 2024. Community members are encouraged to join the conversation and share their thoughts on desired qualities for the next Superintendent. Additional information about the Community Forum will be shared closer to the event.

Timeline Overview:

As shared in my last update, the search process will be comprehensive, structured, and transparent. It will involve multiple phases:

  • Information Gathering (March/April 2024): The Superintendent Search Consultant team will be collecting input from stakeholders to understand the desired qualities, skills, and priorities for the new superintendent through a superintendent search survey and a day in the district with different stakeholder groups. The superintendent search survey will be active from March 29 - April 19, 2024 and the day in the district is scheduled for April 16, 2024.

  • Recruitment and Application Period (March - April 2024): We will be focused on attracting a broad pool of highly qualified candidates through targeted outreach and advertising of the vacancy announcement.

  • Screening and Selection (Spring 2024): The Superintendent Search Consultant team and Board of Education will carefully review applications and conduct the first-round interviews with the lens of the candidate profile developed through the feedback provided by stakeholders. The first-round interviews will be confidential. First-round confidential interviews are very common across NYS as they allow candidates to apply without the risk of impacting their current position or community. Finalists will be selected from the first round based on their qualifications, experience, and alignment with the district's vision. During the first round we are committed to narrowing the process to two finalists. In the finalist interviews, there will be representation from all stakeholder groups through a stakeholder committee which will include students, staff, families, and community members. The stakeholder committees will meet with the two finalists and then provide feedback to the Superintendent Search Consultant team to share with the Board of Education.

  • Announcement (June 2024): It is anticipated that a finalist announcement will be made in early June 2024.

On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to emphasize that we are committed to transparency throughout this process. Your participation and feedback are crucial in ensuring the selection of a Superintendent who will continue to lead your district with excellence.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me at Lynne.Rutnik@WFLBOCES.org with any questions, suggestions, or thoughts you may have throughout this process. Thank you for your continued support.

With gratitude,

Lynne
