6th Graders: Track and Field Starts April 2nd
Calling all sixth graders. Track season is just around the corner, and all sixth graders have an opportunity to participate in this sport season. There are many events to try in track: jumping (high jump, long jump, and hurdles); throwing (shot put, discus, and aero jav); and running (short sprints, relays, and distance races). Come try something new or get in shape for another sport! The season starts Tuesday, April 2nd after spring break. Transportation to practice is provided. Parents pick students up after practice each day at Ackerman campus.
Art Literacy
Thank you to everyone who helped with our last Art Lit project, it's so wonderful to see the artwork on display around Eccles!
The next Art Literacy volunteer meeting will be Thursday, April 11, at 1:00 pm in the Eccles Music Room. Our next artist is Henri Matisse, and our medium will be cut paper. This is the last artist we will present this year. See you on the 11th!

Reading Mentors: Become a Volunteer Today!
Reading Mentors inspires a love of reading by providing students with their own library of books and consistent, one-on-one reading with a caring adult. Kids who read for fun, read to learn!
The Canby Center is looking for volunteers who love to read and have a heart for students. If you can meet consistently to enjoy reading with a student at Eccles Elementary or another elementary school in Canby, or fill in as a substitute occasionally, contact:

Health Room Updates
LOST & FOUND
Our clothes rack is filling up. When we get back from break, please stop by and check the rack for any of your child's missing stuff (clothes, hats, water bottles, etc).
CLOTHES FOR KIDS
Accidents and injuries happen, and our health room utilizes donated clothes to help our students in need. If you have extra items that your child has outgrown, they're in good condition, and you'd like to pass it on to the school, we would be so grateful. Here are the items we have an increased need for right now:
- Boys sweats & pants (sizes 6-12)
- Girls leggings (sizes 6-12)
- Boys underwear (sizes 6/XS & 7-8/S-M)
- Girls underwear (sizes 4-8)
- Shoes (any clothes-toed, tennis shoes or sneakers, boys & girls)
CARE Award Nominations
Each month, Canby School District and the Canby Kiwanis Club will highlight a different school in our district and will recognize a staff member from that school with the CARE Award. Eccles will be highlighted during the month of May. So, if you know of an Eccles staff member who has made a difference in your life, the life of a child you know, or in the community, please consider nominating them for the CARE Award.
