UDHS Community Update
April 18, 2024

Cardinal Pride
Good afternoon, UDHS Family,
On Tuesday we enjoyed a great activity which provided fun, connection, and education. Thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Sundling, Trumark Financial, and all of our wonderful school and community volunteers, our junior students were given meaningful lessons in financial literacy in an engaging atmosphere. Hopefully they shared the details of the activity at home and explained the process and decision-making that resulted. This took place throughout the morning.
Mr. Hayden shared with us that the winners of the 2024 PA Media and Design Montgomery County Regional Competition were recently announced, and Upper Dublin High School garnered multiple awards. There are six categories in this competition (3D Design, Animation, Computer Fair Logo and Graphic Design, Programming, Web Page Design, and Digital Movie). Upper Dublin High School sophomore Aidan Pastor took the third place award for Programming, and seniors Nathan Hong, Sam Schneider, and Jordan Shahar took second place in the same category. Freshmen Andrew Siegel, Matthew Rothkopf, and Brady Sigman (pictured left to right) took first place for their group project in the Web Design category. As a result, Andrew, Matthew, and Brady have earned the right to compete in the State Level of the PA Media and Design Competition, which will take place in Carlisle on May 21. We wish them all the best.
Linked here is the schedule for all students and details for Keystone testing. Students currently enrolled in Biology and Literature (10th grade English) will test on May 14 and May 15 while all other students will have a 3-hour late arrival to school. Bus schedules will run at the regular time for testers and will run with a 3-hour delay for non-testers. The Algebra I Keystone Exam will be held on May 16 and May 17 during regular school hours. All students will arrive at school by 7:50 AM.
Activities
Upper Dublin’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is proud to announce that UD has a number of National Level Qualifiers again this year. Over half of our FBLA members competed at the state level competition and they were awarded 29 ‘Top Ten’ Individual Awards, three National Qualifiers, and several Chapter Awards. There were over five thousand FBLA members from across Pennsylvania in attendance representing their schools and regions. Please read the Full Summary and Awards List to see all of the awards and some pictures.
Mr. Kennedy shared that the Upper Dublin Indoor Percussion did a great job at State Champs this past weekend at Coatesville Area High School. You can view their championship performance here. Congratulations for a great show. On a related musical note, Christian and Elisha Holland both auditioned for and were accepted into the University of the Arts Summer Music Institute. They both also received scholarships. Christian was admitted for the saxophone and Elisha for the trombone. We wish them all the best on this summer endeavor.
The Upper Dublin School District Allied and Performing Arts Show is back again this year. Please join us Wednesday, May 1, at the high school performing arts center to see students' work (grades 4-12) in the allied arts. The show begins at 5:00 and ends at 8:00.
The Upper Dublin High School Theatre Department invites you to an afternoon of fun and entertainment on April 27 for their annual Children’s Event. This year, characters you know and love all take on the challenge to become the most Royally Talented in the land. There will be singing, comedy, and other forms of talent on display all in pursuit of the title. Will Anna and Elsa's singing win it? Or perhaps the magic act of Tigger and Eeyore? The judges, Ursula, Lord Farquaad, and Fairy Godmother, will decide with a little help from the audience. In addition to the show, this event will also feature interactive events for the whole family with our beloved characters, so you will not want to miss out on the fun. The event runs 75 minutes and is hosted in the Upper Dublin High School Cafeteria. There are two opportunities to join the party, 12 PM and 2 PM, and all tickets are sold on Ticketleap.com.
