The DI 1ders placed 4th in the Scientific Challenge while the DI Legends placed 3rd in the Engineering Challenge. The Tic Tac Squirrels placed 2nd in their Improv category and had the highest Instant Challenge score amongst the Improv teams. Congratulations to the DI Legends and the Tic Tac Squirrels on advancing to the DI Globals where they will compete in Kansas City in May! A big high five goes to the DI 1ders for their hard work and excellent showing at the Regional competition. A special thanks goes to all the team managers who work tirelessly to provide this opportunity for our students!
BAND FESTIVAL
Our Advanced Band students did well at the Archdiocesan Band Festival! You sounded lovely! Congratulations on your "A" Rating! A big thank you goes to our Band teacher, Ms. Etter who has taught them so much!
MATHCOUNTS
We are proud of our students who competed at the Maryland State MATHCOUNTS competition today. Father Andrew White School was the only Catholic School in the entire Archdiocese of Washington who had students represented. A special thank you to our coach, Mrs. Downey who has spent countless hours working with our mathletes over the past several months. Way to go!

FAW Athletics
We are delighted to report that we now have an in-ground net system where students can play volleyball, tennis, badminton, pickleball, and more! We are very grateful to Randy Guy of Guy and Guy Masonry for donating the labor for this project. His workers, Donald and George were top notch and took meticulous care to dig the holes and install the pole hole sleeves. Many, many thanks!

RaiseRight Update/Reminder
Our RaiseRight Gift Card Program year is coming to an end on March 31st. There is still time for you to grab gift cards for your everyday purchases, gifts for Easter baskets, Mother’s Day, etc. There are all kinds of things coming up that you can be well prepared for with gift cards! Gift cards can be purchased as e-gift cards which you receive instantly or physical gift cards, some of which are reloadable via the App or online.
Thank you so much to all the families and friends that have participated thus far this year. Not only is the school earning money back but we have multiple families earning back rebates that will offset their tuition for next year! How can you check to see if you earned extra rebates? Remember that the first $50 in rebates goes to our school. Everything raised thereafter gets a 75/25 split. To clarify, 75% goes towards your child's tuition (or the 8th grade trip if you prefer) for next year and 25% goes back to FAW. A simple way to check your rebates that you have earned thus far for the year is via the App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/raiseright-fundraising/id1

School Store - Two Weeks Left! (Shop on Wednesdays)
This quarter, some of our middle school students are operating a school store. They are learning how to take inventory, markup items for profit, and manage the ins and outs of a business. The school store will be open every Wednesday during their elective class time. Items cost anywhere from 25 cents to $10. Please encourage your children to visit the school store! Kindly send in an envelope with money, marked with your child’s name and “School Store” so the middle schoolers know who to expect this week.

You may have seen recently that the CDC is updating its COVID guidelines, and removing the five day isolation mandate. Accordingly, the MD Dept. of Health and Dept. of Education have issued a memorandum directing schools and child care providers to follow the Respiratory Virus Guidance recently issued by the CDC. This guidance provides recommendations for prevention strategies for several common respiratory viruses including COVID-19, influenza, and RSV. Additionally, the precautions listed to prevent the spread are the same for all respiratory viruses (and most communicable diseases, in general) which are to keep your child home if he or she is sick until symptoms have improved and there has been no fever for 24 hours. Once your child does return to school, he or she should be extra careful to avoid spreading germs (by hand washing, covering coughs, etc.). Of course, if your child’s sickness warrants a visit to the pediatrician, you will be given further instructions specific to his or her situation and needs. Ultimately it comes down to how your child is feeling, and we universally desire for all God’s children to be healthy and happy.

March 2024 Mental Health Calendar
Taking care of the physical bodies that God gave us is important, but it is also important to take care of our mental health as well. In a busy world of activity, stress, and anxiety, we often don't take the time to focus on the mental health of ourselves and each other. On Thursday, family calendars will be coming home with oldest/only students. Each day there is an activity listed that helps promote good mental health. We are challenging our FAW families to complete the calendar together and to return it to homeroom teachers at the end of the month! Families who complete the calendar will receive an incentive and be recognized at Morning Prayers.
