Hello, Riverside Families!

Thank you for coming to conferences in the month of March. It was so nice to see you all in the building.

The last two months of school will be very busy with testing, field trips, and other activities.

Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress:

Students in grades third, fourth, and fifth grade will be taking the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) between April 15 and May 3. These assessments will test their skills in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Fifth graders take a science assessment as well.

Fourth grade and fifth students will be testing on the following dates: Monday, April 15, Tuesday, April 16, and Wednesday, April 17. Fifth graders will take the science assessment on Thursday, April 18.

Third grade students will be testing on the following dates: Monday, April 22, Tuesday, April 23, and Wednesday April 24.

Please make sure your child(ren) get a good night's rest and have breakfast on these days. It is also important to have them to school on time each day. Thank you for your help in this!

Riverside Principal Change:

Mr. Mozer, the Director of Elementary Education for the Sioux City Community School District, has conducted interviews for the new principal. He will communicate with you who the new principal will in the next two weeks. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Wednesday, April 10, will be Kindergarten Registration at Riverside Elementary. Any child that will be five years old by September 15, 2024 is eligible to come to registration. Please stay tuned for more information about this.

Riverside will have Field Day on Tuesday, May 21. If you would be interested in volunteering for this event, please make sure you have a Volunteer/Background Check form filled out. We would love to have your help! This will be the schedule: 9am-11am- Third, fourth, and fifth grade students participate. 1pm-3pm- kindergarten, first, and second grade students participate. Thank you.

Tuesday, April 2: Classes Resume- Fifth Grade to Art Museum 12:00-2:15

Wednesday, April 10: Kindergarten Registration- No School for current kindergarten students

Monday, April 15-May 3: ISASP testing for grades 3, 4, and 5

Wednesday, May : Fifth Grade visit to West Middle School 9:00-11:00

Tuesday, May 21: Field Day- 9am-11am- Third, fourth, and fifth grade. 1pm-3pm- kindergarten, first, and second grade

Thursday, May 23: Last Day of School for Students. Third grade field trip to Adam's Nature Preserve 9am-12pm. 12:30 staff vs. fifth grade kickball game

Riverside Elementary is collecting Box Tops and Hy-Vee Receipts.We also collect pop-tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. We have a place to collect all of these items in the office.Thank you!

Do you have school fees that need to be paid? Visit the Sioux City Community School District website and click on “Pay Fees”. This will link you to MySchoolBucks where you can pay your student’s school fees online. Questions? Please give our school office a call.

Iowa immunization laws require certain immunizations and screenings for students. These requirements are listed on the District website. We encourage you to contact your student’s doctor soon to schedule any required immunizations or screenings so your student is prepared for next fall.
