RC3 News

Martin Daugherty is one of the newest members of the RC3 faculty, serving as an instructor in the Fire & Emergency Services Academy. He is a former Spain Park High School football player and Hoover Fire Department's youngest engineer. He attend the University of Alabama, where he majored in business management. Daugherty felt called to serve his community, so he decided to attend the Alabama Fire College and become a firefighter. He is married and is the proud owner of a golden retriever. In his spare time, he enjoys hikes and enjoying the outdoors with his dog. He is stationed at Station 7 at Inverness. We are honored to have him as a part of the RC3 team.

RC3 students visited several schools to discuss careers with elementary students. Representatives from RC3's Construction Science, Cosmetology & Barbering, Fire & Emergency Services, and Health Science Academies visited Trace Crossings and Rocky Ridge Elementary School for a career day to speak about career associated with their academies.

I am a 2022 graduate of the Culinary & Hospitality Academy. I am currently attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I am majoring in Nutrition. RC3's culinary program prepared me for the courses that I am currently taking in college. In addition to pursuing my undergraduate degree, I work part-time in the food industry. I appreciate the support given by my RC3 teachers and administrator.

2024-2025 FAFSA is open! (studentaid.gov) As per Federal Student Aid, "The FAFSA form is available for short periods of time while they monitor the site performance and update the form to provide you with a better experience."

Founded in 1995, as the charitable arm of the Home Builders Association of Alabama, the Alabama Home Builders Foundation’s goal is to educate people of all ages about opportunities in the residential construction industry. To help achieve this goal, the Foundation offers scholarships to those students who are studying a residential trade such as carpentry, masonry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or construction management. They must be a resident of Alabama. They must be attending or enrolling in an accredited community college, technical school, university or approved vocational school in Alabama.

The deadline for application is March 15.

RC3 Attendance Policy - Review the attendance policy by clicking HERE

If the student will not attend for any reason on a scheduled attendance day, the student is required to email RC3 to inform us of the absence. Please email at: rc3main@hoover.k12.al.us at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled arrival time.

Please be aware that RC3 attendance policy and procedures may differ from your base school. Please be sure to turn in excuses to both RC3 and your base school.

There are steps you can take to prevent spreading influenza to others:

• Wash hands often, especially after coughing, sneezing and wiping or blowing nose.

• Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing

• Use paper tissues when wiping or blowing the nose: throw tissues away after each use.

• Stay away from crowded living and sleeping spaces, if possible

• Keep hands away from eyes, nose and mouth.

A sick child is advised to stay at home during the first days of illness when symptoms are most severe and the infection is contagious. He/She can return to school when his/her temperature has been less than 100 degrees for 24 hours without the help of any medication to help him/her be fever free.

The Hoover City School Board approved the 2024-2025 School Calendar.

You MUST park in your assigned space every day. If you do not have an assigned parking space at RC3, you are NOT allowed to park on the campus.

Driving to RC3 is a privilege, not a right. There are consequences for failing to follow all rules associated with driving to and from RC3. For questions or concerns, please see Officer Thomas.

March 25-29: Spring Break - All schools and offices closed

April 12: E-Learning Day (No In-Person School)

May 23: HHS Graduation at Bartow Arena at 6:00pm

May 22: SPHS Graduation at Samford University Pete Hanna Center at 5:00pm
