A Note from Nurse Bates
Current 6th Graders are required to have 2 adolescent immunizations prior to starting 7th Grade.
Required Shots: Tdap and Meningitis
These immunizations are due Friday May 10th. You will be receiving a call or text from our School Nurse if we do not already have record of your student having these immunizations.
*If your student has a special situation where they need to get the immunizations later then May 10th but prior to the first day of 7th grade in August please call the school to speak with our nurse.

3rd Quarter Reward Trip
Eligible students will receive a permission slip for our 3rd quarter roller skating trip with their report card on March 15th.
iPads & Chargers
All students need to bring their iPad and charger to school on Monday, March 4th.
iPads will be left at school on both Monday & Tuesday in preparation for testing on Wednesday.
WV General Summative Assessment
As we prepare for the end of the year assessments, please be aware Educational Leave of Absence forms will not be approved for excused absences for days we are administering an assessment. Please avoid schedule appointments on the assessment dates as well.
Writing: Wednesday, March 6th
8th Grade Science: Monday, April 29th
ELA: Wednesday, May 1st through Friday, May 3rd
Math: Tuesday May 7th through Thursday, May 9th
Students who attend every day during assessments will be entered in a drawing for giftcards.
Golden Horseshoe
All 8th grade students are required to take the Golden Horseshoe test.
"One of the highlights of the eighth-grade year is the opportunity for a student to become a Knight or Lady of the Golden Horseshoe. This prestigious program takes its name from the golden horseshoes given to the early explorers of West Virginia."
The essay portion of the test will be given in Social Studies classes on March 19th. The multiple choice portion will be given on March 26th.
