CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
We are in the midst of our Chickadee Book Award reading program. K-4th grade students all across Maine can participate in this literacy initiative. WCS students hear one book per day for ten consecutive days. The books are read to them by different staff members. Ask your student who read to them this week!

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
ODYSSEY OF THE MIND STATE TOURNAMENT
Woolwich Central School is sending three teams, comprised of 21 students from grades K-7th, to the Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament at Nobleboro High School on Saturday, March 23rd. The teams have been working for months to learn and practice critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills to use in the competition. Each team will be faced with an on-the-spot problem to solve and complete for the most creative, effective, and team coordinated solution.
In addition to being able to solve a new problem in real time each team had created a unique performance they will showcase at the tournament in front of other competitors and audiences. It's exciting to see the scripts, sets, props, and costumes the teams create come together into funny, attention grabbing, and unusual performances. This year we will see a rock band, characters from the classic story Pride & Prejudice, and glow bugs on stage! Join parents, and volunteer coaches, Anita Lichman and Megan Bendson, in wishing these teams good luck at the tournament!
OUTDOOR CLASSROOM
5th grader, Chase Walker, designed and built a garden frame for the Maine Native Seeds that his class is growing in the Outdoor Classroom. These seeds will sprout soon and students will have a chance to see the germination process in action!
RUNNING CLUB
Running Club permission forms were sent home this week! Be on the look out for this paper, and be sure to return a signed copy by 4/12 for your student to participate. This year shirts can be ordered online, directly from the company! See details below.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
Could Your Child Benefit from Mentoring?
When it comes to our children's future, weβre in this together. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick pairs screened positive mentors with youth to create a community where all children achieve success.
We offer school-based mentoring, in which your child is matched with a trained adult volunteer who meets with them weekly at their school for lunch and recess. We also offer community-based mentoring, in which your child and their Big meet to do fun things together on a schedule that works for them.
All our programs are free! Contact your school counselor for more information or visit bbbsbathbrunswick.org.
