Welcome Mrs. Kent to York Elementary School
"All of the teachers and students have been very welcoming, which has made it an awesome and exciting first few weeks at YES. I knew that our K-5 teachers were passionate and always strive to do what's best for kids, but it has been great to witness it firsthand. I look forward to getting to know students and faculty even better as we continue to grow our community of learners." Mrs. Kent
York Elementary School Interim Principal
Spirit Week 2023!
Spirit Week and Homecoming 2023 was a huge success! The celebrations of everything purple and gold were on full display throughout the week. All students pre-K to Seniors participated in various theme days which resulted in some very funny costumes.
On Friday, the middle/high school students ended their day with a pep assembly to celebrate all of our Fall sports teams. Saturday's weather forced a cancellation of the Powder Puff football game but the middle/high school students had fun at the Homecoming dance.
Thank you to the students and staff who planned Spirit Week and also to everyone for their participation.

Agriculture in Our Classrooms with Cornell Cooperative Extension
The students love when Cornell Cooperative Extension visits with an Agriculture in the Classroom lesson. This fall, Mr. Pitcher visited our school with a lesson about how pumpkins grow. Of course the students were familiar with carving a pumpkin for Halloween, but many learned that the same pumpkin used for carving, can also be cooked and made into delicious recipes.
Mr. Pitcher demonstrated how to combine pureed pumpkin with vanilla instant pudding and milk to create a delicious creamy pumpkin flavored snack!
Mr. Pitcher Demonstrates How to Create a Creamy Pumpkin Snack
Place pureed pumpkin, one package of instant vanilla pudding and milk into a ziploc bag and squish!
Most of the students loved the creamy pumpkin treat!
Everyone tried the pumpkin treat...but for some of the students it was a solid NO.

The Careers in Construction Day was held on Thursday, October 19, 2023
at the Monroe County Fleet Center.
Students in grades 10-12 from several area schools attended the event. Students participated in hands-on activities and visited trade exhibits, which gave them valuable insight to the
unlimited opportunities available in the construction industry.
Mr. Bill MacKenzie , the YCS School to Work Advisor, accompanied the students to the Construction Day event.
