FIRST PLACE FOR TEAM NERY AND WEAVER IN CULINARY!!!
Ten high school CTE Culinary Arts programs from around the state sent a team of two to compete in a practical cooking contest at UMaine Orono, Bangor on Thursday. This featured a "market basket" of local ingredients and students were challenged to conceptualize a complete dish from the displayed ingredients. Students had two hours for the competition. Besides creating the dish the students had to outline their dish for the judges, list the ingredients used, create a cooking methodology and narrative describing their dish. Bath Tech Culinary Students, Eleanor Nery and Gwen Weaver, created a Local Salmon with a Black Barley Risotto and a carrot puree. They won first place and received two perfect scores from the judges.
Thank you to the Professional Development in Agricultural Literacy (PDAL) project and grant for allowing this to happen.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE WORKING WITH DESIGN AND FAB
TRAFFIC STOPS
Our Criminal Justice students worked with the Bath Police Department to explain and demonstrate "High Risk" traffic stops. High risk stops are executed when dealing with a known armed and dangerous person or suspected dangerous person. All traffic stops have an elevated risk but these stops are inherently more dangerous. Our students learned how to execute a stop, remove the occupants, handcuff, and search them, all while maintaining officer, witness, and bystander safety.
GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS VISIT HUSSON/NESCOM
Keith Libby and CJ Savastano had an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the remote Husson University/NESCom The Nite Show with Danny Cashman recording, at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center. The tour included information about NESCom programs: Graphic/Visual Design, Marketing Communications, and Video/Film Production. Keith is enrolled and will attend Husson in the fall for Graphic Design, and CJ will be attending Maine Media Workshops and College for a Certificate in Collaborative Filmmaking.
WELDING STUDENTS TOUR BIW
Bath Tech students in welding had the opportunity to embark on an in-depth tour of the BIW shipyard. The tour was personalized and led by the welding superintendent alongside other prominent lead welders and employees. Throughout the enriching experience, students delved into the intricate processes involved in shipbuilding, with a keen focus on the nuances within the welding domain.
