Dear BHS Parents and Guardians:
We are officially in the last quarter of the school year. Congratulations to everyone who made honor roll for Quarter 3! We will be sending out information regarding the Quarter 3 Honor Roll Celebration, so please be on the lookout for that. There is so much going on at BHS during the months of May and June, don't miss out on a thing. Make sure to check out the important dates section below for everything you need to know.
Sign up for BHS' Summer Academy is open now! You must register your student through PowerSchool by June 1. For all the information on registering, what is being offered and what grades are eligible for what Summer Academy offerings, please check out the brochure attached below.

Summer Academy 2024
Summer Academy 2024 will be held at Bloomfield High School July 8 - August 2, 2024. This year the following will be offered at Summer Academy: Incoming Freshman Experience, Credit Recovery, Elective Enrichment and Pre-Calculus.
You must register your student through PowerSchool by June 1, 2024. Please complete the Summer School 2024 Registration Forms. If you have any questions, please contact Brenda Niemitz, Director of Numeracy and Science at bniemitz@blmfld.org or 860-286-2630 x1103 or your students school counselor.

Quarter 3 Report Cards
Quarter 3 Reports Cards are now available on your PowerSchool Parent Portal. To access your child's report cards, please follow the instructions below:
- Log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal Account (You must do this from a computer. Accessing PowerSchool on the app on your phone will not work.)
- On the left hand side you will see an icon for Student Reports, click this icon.
- Once in the Student Reports Screen, you should see a link titled, Quarter 3 Report Card, click this link.
- Your child's Q3 Report Card should appear on the screen.
Annual Poetry Contest at BHS
The English Department is excited to announce their annual Poetry Contest for the month of April, which is National Poetry Month! This is a great opportunity for BHS' students to showcase their creative writing styles! All submissions are due by April 29th and winners will be announced on May 4th. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in $100, $50 and $25 gift cards. For the directions on how to submit your entry, rules and rubrics, click on the link below:

Senior Capstone Projects
Senior Capstone's are complete marking the end of an incredible journey for our senior class! All seniors researched a chosen career for months and presented their knowledge and findings over a two day span to complete their Capstone Project. These young men and women are paving the way for a future filled with innovation and impact! Check out some of our students presentations below.
BHS Seniors Awarded 2024 CAS Outstanding Arts Award
Congratulations to BHS Seniors, Jalyn Santana and Chelsea Coleman who were recently awarded the 2024 CAS Outstanding Arts Award for their contributions to the visual and performing arts at Bloomfield High School. These young women were honored at the Aqua Turf in a ceremony honoring the artistic efforts of students from across the state. We are so proud to have Jalyn and Chelsea representing BHS in the arts!
2024 National Honor Society Induction Ceremony
On Wednesday, April 17th, BHS inducted 15 new members into the National Honor Society. In a ceremony honoring the hard work and dedication of these students to their academics, NHS advisor, Ms. Dhana Tulloch-Reid shared how these students exemplify the 4 Pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character. Congratulations, to our 15 new members and all of our members of NHS!

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony
BHS Team Competes in OTIS Made to Move Competition
A team from BHS recently participated in and completed a thirty minute presentation for the international OTIS Made to Move Competition. The team, “We Are the Change” addressed the issue of making green spaces more inclusive through a STEAM lens. They brainstormed, surveyed, and brought forth a novel solution: the green, plant filled hydrogen fuel cell bus, along with cell phone apps. The team was made up of: team captain: Mahoganie Wilson-Little, Jaida Foster, Charlize Richmond and Jalyn Santana. The results will be announced at the end of April.

Tennis:
- On Monday, April 15th, BHS' Varsity Girls Tennis Team fell to Rocky Hill, 1-6.
- On Tuesday, April 16th, BHS' Varsity Girls Tennis Team fell to Platt, 1-6.
- On Wednesday, April 17th, BHS' Varsity Girls Tennis Team fell to Bristol Eastern, 0-7.
- On Friday, April 19th, BHS' Varsity Girls Tennis Team fell to Lewis Mills, 3-4.
Softball:
- On Monday, April 8th, BHS' Varsity Softball Team defeated International, 21-14.
- On Monday, April 15th, BHS' Varsity Softball Team fell to HMTCA, 10-15.
- On Wednesday, April 17th, BHS' Varsity Softball Team fell to Parish Hill, 3-13.
- On Monday, April 22nd, BHS' Varsity Softball Team defeated Capital Prep, 23-5.
- Senior, Adreana Morales had two hits in the win.
Baseball:
- On Tuesday, April 9th, BHS' Varsity Baseball Team defeated East Windsor/International Academy, 11-8.
- On Wednesday, April 10th, BHS' Varsity Baseball Team fell to HMTCA/SMSA, 5-16.
- On Monday, April 15th, BHS' Varsity Baseball Team defeated Innovation, 10-0.
- On Wednesday, April 17th, BHS' Varsity Baseball Team defeated Computer Science, 11-0.
- On Friday, April 19th, BHS' Varsity Baseball Team defeated Weaver, 12-0.
- On Monday, April 22nd, BHS' Varsity Baseball Team defeated East Windsor/International Academy, 18-2.
Boys Outdoor Track:
- On Saturday, April 13th, BHS' Varsity Boys Track Team competed in the Lady Hawks Invitational. Event winners for the boys were:
- Delante Senior in the 110 and 300 Meter Hurdles
- Ja'Mari Manson in the High Jump
- Jessie Singleton Jr. in the Triple Jump
- On Tuesday, April 16th, BHS' Varsity Boys Track Team defeated New Britain, 104-46.
- On Saturday, April 20th: BHS' Varsity Boys Track Team competed in the Hillhouse Outdoor Invite. Event winners for the boys were:
- Delante Senior in the 110 and 300 Meter Hurdles
- Ja'Mari Manson in the High Jump
Girls Outdoor Track:
- On Saturday, April 13th, BHS' Varsity Girls Track Team competed in the Lady Hawks Invitational. Event winners for the girls were:
- Jahniya Barclay in the 200 Meters
- D'Asia Duncan in the 800 Meters
- The 4x1 Relay of Anaejah Gray, April Nathaniel, Taylor Jackson and Leaghana Walker
- The 4x4 Relay of Dream Wilson, Jahniya Barclay, Soleigh Dixon and Aisha Williams
- Payton Sirdine in the Shot Put
- Saphyr Brown in the Long Jump
- On Tuesday, April 16th, BHS' Varsity Girls Track Team defeated New Britain, 104-33.
- On Saturday, April 20th, BHS' Varsity Girls Track Team competed in the Hillhouse Outdoor Invite. Event winners for the girls were:
- Jahniya Barclay in the 200 and 400 Meters
- The 4x1 Relay of Jahniya Barclay, Saphyr Brown, Sianna Lloyd and Dream Wilson
- On Saturday, April 20th, BHS Sophomore D'Asia Duncan competed at The New York Relays in the Heptathlon. D'Asia scored 4,449 points to win. Her points total set a meet record, high school stadium record and a new Bloomfield High School record.
