Home of the Wolverines - Awakening Greatness
April 22, 2024- April 27, 2024
Dear Watkins Mill High School Community,
Thank you for coming out to our Spring Musical this weekend! Our students' hard work definitely paid off. Kudos to an amazing production. Thank you students and staff that made it possible. Congratulations to our coed volleyball team for winning the North Division Championship this Friday. We will update with playoff information when it becomes available.
This week students received their report cards, attendance letters, and obligations (if they had any). Seniors it is important that you pay off any obligations as soon as possible. Please see Mrs. Holderman, our financial specialist if you have any questions.
Next week, we will be checking student parking permits. All students parking in the student lot should have a parking permit. Also, students should only be parking in the student lot. If you need a permit or need to pay for the remainder of the school year, please see Ms. Holderman.
We have an eventful week ahead of us. Monday, April 22, 2024, will be an asynchronous learning day for students. This means that students will not report to school on that day. Instead, their teachers will assign work for them to complete on their own. Students can expect up to four hours of work to be completed on Canvas or on paper. Students must turn in the assignments in order to be marked present for the day. If you have any questions, please reach out to your teachers or the main office.
IB Testing begins this month. Our first exam is on Thursday the 25th. Please review our IB exam schedule for testing times and locations. WMHS IB Exam Schedule May 2024

News and Updates
We want to congratulate our Coed Volleyball team and Coach Michael Brown for winning the MCPS North Division on Friday Night with their win over Rockville. They are currently 8-0 and one of the top teams in the county this season. Be sure to mark down May 2nd as we will more than likely host a first-round playoff game, time and opponent to be determined. Way to go!
Spring sports are in FULL swing, and our teams are working hard. Continue to check our athletics website for the most up to date schedules.
A few friendly reminders in regard to attending our events at Watkins Mill and throughout MCPS Athletics for all sport seasons:
- All events (minus Pickleball, Allied Softball, Bocce, Boys/Girls Tennis, Baseball, Softball, Track and Field) require a ticket to attend at WM. All those in attendance ages 11 and up must have a ticket to the event. We are an online ticket only school and all tickets must be purchased here. ONLY those with an MCPS badge plus 1 guest will get in for FREE.
- If you leave the building/contest, you will need to repay to enter.
- Admission ends at halftime of the 2nd or last contest of lacrosse games, even if you have a ticket, you will not be able to enter after this point and at the start of the 2nd set in the last game of volleyball.
- All doors/gates for events open 30 minutes prior to the first start
- Respect and Sportsmanship towards both teams and officials are expected. Any infraction of this could jeopardize you attending games and/or being asked to leave.

College Tracks Updates
CollegeTracks is still recruiting students to join their Class of 2025. If you plan to graduate in 2025 and plan on attending college or trade school, CollegeTracks is here to help you. We assist students through the entire college application process including researching colleges and careers, preparing for college entrance exams, creating college lists, submitting college and financial aid applications, reviewing financial aid awards to help determine which college would be the best financial fit for you, and more. We will be hosting workshops for the Class of 2025 in April & May so we encourage students to sign up now to secure your spot. Once you register with CollegeTracks, you will need to complete your New Student Meeting which is a conversation we have with students to learn more about you and your academic goals so we know how to best support you through this process. CollegeTracks does not have requirements to join but we have noticed that students who come from low-income families or are the first in their family to attend a US college usually get the most out of our services. Students who are in ACES are NOT eligible to join CollegeTracks. Click HERE or come see us in the Media Center if you are interested in joining. If you have already joined, make sure that you schedule your New Student Meeting ASAP so you are ready to go when workshops begin.
Again, CollegeTracks is located in the Media Center and we are in the building Monday - Thursday from 9am - 5pm.
