Home of the Cobras
Greetings Cobras,
WOW! We have completed 131 Days of Instruction! We hope you all had a blessed Easter Weekend! We hope you and your families celebrated a peaceful holiday and shared love, happiness and hope. From your Cobra Family, we wish you all good health and blessings.
We have many important events coming in the month of April. Please ensure to keep these dates in mind for the month of April. Detailed dates are further below in SMORE.
Thank you Cobras!
April is Month of the Military Child. We will wear be honoring our Military with dressing up in Purple on Fridays and will hold a dress up week April 14th to April 19th. Please see flyer below.
On April 1st, the 2024-2025 Transfer application will open up. As we are a growing campus, online transfers will NOT be processed until all of the area children are enrolled. We must allow for our neighborhood children to enroll first. Transfers will be processed in July
On Wednesday, we will celebrate our children at the Annual James P. Butler Games at the SAC.
We will continue to meet with families in Loss of Credit due to excessive absences. We will schedule parents to come in and all work together to ensure your child can regain credit through tutoring hours. Please collect notes for every absence your child has had that have not been submitted to our attendance clerks. Any child that has 10 or more absences and no justification notes for the absences, is considered TRUANT. It is vital that you communicate with the school each time your child is out. Currently, we have several scholars in Loss of Credit and many more in danger of losing credit for the year. Let's work together to keep our scholars healthy and in attendance.
We are continuing with FREE DRESS Fridays. If students come to school in free dress and do not earn it they will be sent to the nurse to call home for a change of clothing and/or if the nurse has extra uniforms they will be asked to change into a uniform. Please help us in ensuring your Cobras do not come to school out of uniform on Fridays unless they have earned it. We do not want to lose this great incentive and repeat offenders will have Administrative consequences. Please remember that scholars must meet the following criteria to receive free dress Fridays:
1. NO Absences
2. NO Tardies
3. NO Discipline Referrals
Great ways to support our Cobras learning at home daily:
Read daily for 20 minutes (anything of interest to child);
Practice addition & subtraction facts (these bring confidence);
Practice multiplication & division facts (upper grades need for problem solving);
Go to bed early enough to be ready to learn the next day; &
Continue to communicate with classroom teachers
Please make sure to check our campus web page frequently at https://www.sisd.net/campestre and check class dojo for reminders and important information.
Our district will continue to provide breakfast in the classroom for ALL scholars. Breakfast in the Classroom, BIC, will be served daily from 7:30 AM to 7:45 AM. Please be on time to take advantage of the most important meal of the day.
The building will be cleaned throughout the day in high traffic areas to ensure safety. We will have hand sanitizing stations. If you wish for your child to wear a mask, please send them with a mask that fits them comfortably.
If a student tests positive with COVID, child must see a doctor to get a test and be diagnosed with COVID. If parents submit a home COVID test, it will NOT qualify for the Q code of Quarantined. Therefore, these absences will count towards Loss of Credit. Ensure your child is seen by a doctor and diagnosis is sent as an excuse for absences to qualify for Q code.
We are so grateful for your trust and dedication. We are determined to help all our Cobras reach their fullest potential.
Sincerely,
Ms. Randi Shreve

Importance of MP4 For 3rd-5th Grade Cobras
As we begin MP4, we will be working with our scholars to prepare them for the end of the year. For our 3rd through 5th graders, this means preparing them for their STAAR exams.
- We will continue with our teachers providing amazing Tier I instruction daily in all content areas.
- We will provide children time for small group support in math and reading during the school day.
- We will have stations for the children to practice their skills to proficiency during class time in math, reading, writing and science.
- We will offer AFTERSCHOOL TUTORING for scholars starting March 19th. Teachers will contact parents for students who are invited and the tutoring days.
- In MP4, we will offer 2 sessions of Saturday Learning Camp for our 3rd through 5th graders on the following dates:
- Saturday, April 6 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
- Saturday, April 20 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
If our children do NOT pass their STAAR tests, they will have to complete TAI hours per subject. These tutoring hours are 30 per content area failed. At the middle school, our 5th graders will lose some of their electives if they are not successful.
Let's all collaborate for the good of our scholars and finish STRONG!
Solar Eclipse, April 8, 2024
Our area will see a partial eclipse for 2 hours 35 minutes. 83% of the sun will be obscured by the moon at the peak. El Paso will see approx. 4 and ½ minutes of 83% darkness. The total eclipse window will run from 11:40 AM to 1:15 PM MST.
Some classes have purchased glasses for their scholars to view the eclipse. Those teachers will be sending out permission slips for their classes. Students who do not turn in permission slips will NOT participate in the viewing of the eclipse outside. Please
Due to safety protocols, students will watch the solar eclipse from the classrooms where teachers will have a variety of safe websites to visit and share the experience if a permission slip is not returned for those classes whom the teacher will provide glasses.
We will call an inclement weather day where the scholars will not go out for PE or recess during the solar eclipse window.
As always, we thank you for your continued support!
Parent Volunteers
We are always in need of parent volunteers to help support our school initiatives. Please come by the school and fill out a background check to become a proud parent volunteer. Our Amazing Parent Liaison Mrs. Letty Morales here to assist you. Call 937-7318 for support.
Skyward Parent Portal
The Socorro Independent School District is implementing Skyward Family Access for parents and students for the 2023-2024 school year. Skyward Family Access will replace the Tyler360 portal.
Skyward Family Access is an easy-to-use website that allows parents and guardians to access information about their students, such as attendance, grades, assignments, schedules, progress reports and report cards. Skyward Family Access is available on any device with an internet connection.
Skyward Family Access is now available to students and parents. Click here to learn more about how to use Skyward. Information also will be shared with parents via email.
SISD appreciates parents’ patience and understanding during the transition to Skyward Family Access.
Campestre Dress Code Policy
Please remember that students need to continue to follow DRESS CODE policy. Teachers will be checking for dress code and students will be sent to the nurse for a change and to call home should they not be in dress code. We have had several students not wearing the required uniform.. Please ensure to refer to the Parent/Student Handbook for dress code policy.
No Cell Phone Zone
Cell phones may be brought to school, but must be kept in students' backpacks. Students are not allowed to use cell phones during school hours. If they have an emergency, they may use the school phones. We have had many issues with inappropriate cell phone use on campus. For the safety of all our students, please talk to your child about not using their cell phones during school hours. Students caught using phones or phone rings in class will be picked up and given to parent after school on the first offense. Students caught a second time will have to have their phones picked up by their parents and a $20 fee will apply. The school and staff is not responsible for stolen, broken, or lost items. Thank you parents for supporting our learning community.
Attendance
If your child is absent, we must have a doctor's note or a personal note explaining why they were absent upon their arrival. For doctor's appointments, take your child to appointment, but bring them back with a doctor's note the same day and it will be counted as present.
NEW: This year, district policy indicates parents/guardians have 72 hours to submit excuse notes justifying child's absence.
Attendance in vital to our scholars success. Every day gone from school, they lose 7 hours of skills, strategies and support for learning. Help us by keeping your children healthy.
We track attendance daily and will communicate with families when children have 5 absences & tardies to establish a Loss of Credit Contract. Our goal is for your child to be healthy and at school without losing credit.
Please see Attendance Guide below for more information on Attendance.
Student Absence Reporting
Reporting Absences.
If you need to report an absence, our PEIMS Clerk will be able to assist you. Our team will be receiving the email to help assist you. I will forward all of your messages to the classroom teachers so they are aware of the absence.
Email: attendancecampestre@sisd.net
Please include as much detail as possible:
- Child's name

- Reason for the absence
All notes will be collected via this email as well. Be sure to include details in the note as the child returns to class.
Tardies
Children will be counted TARDY whey they enter the building at 7:45 AM. Please ensure you are allowing enough time for your child to arrive to school on time. After 3 tardies, parents MUST enter to sign in your students. We begin to receive children at 6:45 AM. Help your child to arrive on time and start their day ready to learn.

Attendance Awareness
Here at Campestre we want to make sure your student attendance is important. We know that showing up is critical; it implies more than just attending, it represents responsibility and commitment, as well as a work ethic. We have to make everyday count, and we know that only happens if our kids are in our classrooms and our parents are involved.
We will continue with the daily Attendance Call to alert and inform parents of their child’s daily attendance in the event that there is an absence or truancy. The daily call will provide parents with timely communication and information about their child’s attendance.
This is just one of the many ways our district is opening the lines of communicating with our parents in order to ensure student success.
