Principal's Corner
Hello Eagle Families,
As we enter the final stretch of the school year, I want to emphasize the importance of finishing strong. Every minute of learning counts toward your child mastering learning standards, and with the end of the year testing season fast approaching—state assessments beginning the week of April 8—it's more vital than ever.
Your child's success is our priority, and to help them showcase all they've learned, we encourage you to prioritize a few key factors. Adequate sleep is so important for peak brain power, so ensuring your child gets enough rest is essential. Additionally, a healthy breakfast, like the nutritious options served at school, fuels their body and mind for a day of learning.
Consistent attendance is equally vital to prevent your child from missing any learning opportunities. Every class and every lesson matters as we work towards academic achievement together.
We genuinely appreciate your dedication to your child's success. By working together and emphasizing these key factors, we can ensure that your child finishes the school year strong and reaches their full potential.
Warm regards,
Kristin Skogstad, Principal

Leader in Me
Leader in Me is a whole-school, whole-child model that engages educators, families, and communities to collaborate together to develop students as life-ready leaders. Leader in Me helps students learn how to become self-reliant, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, do their homework, prioritize their time, manage their emotions, be considerate of others, express their viewpoint persuasively, resolve conflicts, find creative solutions, value differences, and live a balanced life. It helps students develop the skills and self-confidence they need to lead their lives and succeed in school and beyond.

What are the Garfield Expectations?
Our PBIS Team and school have developed a set of expectations, or rules, for your child's behavior at school. We teach these expectations to all of our students, and recognize students who meet them with Leader Cards.
When your child brings home a Leader Card, be sure to celebrate them and their dedication to being a Garfield Leader!
- L: Lead with the 8 Habits
- E: Everyone is Safe
- A: Act Respectfully
- D: Do Your Job
Do you have questions, ideas, or input on how we can improve our behavioral initiative?
Please reach out to Mrs. Skogstad or Mrs. Bell. We would love to hear your ideas and share more with you about this impactful framework.
