The weather is warmer and we are thrilled to see so many families gathering at the Green Meadow playground. A few quick reminders:

* Please remind your child not to run through the bus circle during dismissal for their own safety, and for the safety of our drivers and riders. We have four buses, two school vans, and the Boys & Girls Club van that need to load and get their routes started.

* Please do not allow your child to kick soccer balls against the building or on the roof.

* Please gather any trash from afternoon snacks to help keep our playground clean.

We are excited to share that we had 273 students participate in our Read Across America Challenge this month!

We want to congratulate all of the students who read or were read to for 500 minutes. We had great participation at each grade level.

• 34 PreK students participated
• 57 Kindergarten students participated
• 62 First Grade students participated
• 72 Second Grade students participated
• 48 Third Grade students participated
• Mrs.Mazeika's kindergarten class wins a participation award with all 21 students passing in a map!
  

We hope that everyone at Green Meadow keeps reading momentum going!

Green Meadow students are currently learning about flexible thinking, the ability to think about things in a new and different way. Being a flexible thinker allows us to change our plan when warranted, without getting stuck in the disappointment around making the change. As adults, we can help children with flexible thinking by validating their emotions, involving them in brainstorming alternatives and by modeling flexibility ourselves. This month the PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 12, at 7:00 PM.

The GM PTO Country Jamboree will be held on Sunday April 7, 2024, from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm at Fowler Middle School. This is our biggest fundraiser of the season and the funds raised will go toward enrichment programs that enhance the educational experience of Green Meadow students.

During the Country Jamboree, students will enjoy a variety of activities and games such as bouncy houses, mechanical bull riding, photo booth and so much more for a rootin tootin good time! We will also have a silent auction!

Students at Fowler Middle School will be perfoming Rock of Ages March 22, at 7 PM, and March 23, at 1 PM and 6 PM. Tickets are available at the door, adults $7.00 and students $3.00.

Please consider supporting the Project 351 Clothing Drive to support Cradles to Crayons. There will be a bin in the Green Meadow lobby March 25 - April 5.

Maynard High School Leaders for Change Club is hosting a Spring event on March 30, from 1-3 PM, at Maynard High School. Tickets are $10.00 a child, parents are free.

Take your family out for some baseball fun while also supporting the Boys and Girls Club! If you hadn’t heard, Maynard will join the town of Berlin in being recognized at the WooSox baseball game on May 22, 2024.

I don’t know of any blocked off sections just for Maynard.

MPY ANNOUNCES NEW PARENTING SOLUTIONS LIBRARY

Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) is pleased to announce its new, free MPY Parenting Solutions Library. Parents can watch or just listen to experts who get right to the point solving big and small challenges. The 24 library presentations focus on the topics below. Each presentation includes a 10-minute videos and handouts. The Home Parenting Library may easily be accessed using the link on MPY’s home page (www.mpyinc.org). No log in or passcode is needed.

The Open Table Food Pantry (www.opentable.org; 33 Main St, Maynard) is open on Tuesdays, 3:30 - 6:30 PM and Thursdays, 1 - 4:30 PM and offers free bags of groceries 1x/week. Open Table also allows families to pick up frozen meals for family members weekly.

The Maynard Food Pantry (www.maynardfoodpantry.com; 82 Main St., Maynard) is open on Mondays from 10 AM - 12 noon 1-2x/month
