Black History Month
Largo High School celebrates "Black History Month!" We will be sharing with our community some of the ways our students honor the rich contributions of African Americans throughout the month.
Report Cards Released February 9
Report cards will be released to students in-hand. Please take a look at your child's progress. Your support and partnership in monitoring your child's progess will assist us in helping them to reach their potential.
Student Spotlight: Cameron Ward Becomes Largo All-Time Points Leader
Student Spotlight: Da'Shai Morton-Hall Eclipses 1,000-point Mark
Congratulations to Largo senior Da'Shai Morton-Hall, who crossed the 1000-point threshold for points scored over a career. Da'Shai crossed this mark in their contest last weekend in Baltimore. This is a tremendous feat at this point in her high school career.
Largo Bocce Team Wins County Championship
Congratulations goes out to the Largo high school bocce team who finished in first place in the county championships with a win over Charles Herbert Flowers High School. Largo's team will travel to Hagerstown Tuesday, February 13, to compete for the Maryland state championship.
Attendance Matters
- Make sure that your child arrives to school at least 15 minutes before the start of the day.
- When a child is absent, please send a note to assist them in getting make-up work.
- Monitor their attendance daily, and look for abnormalities.
- Stay in communication with teachers and staff during your child absence.
- Talk with your child about the importance of daily attendance in every class and how it helps his/her learning.
- Ask them about his/her school day; discuss which classes are engaging your child interest and how to increase interest in classes they do not find engaging.
National Counselor Appreciation Week
This week was National Counseling Appreciation Week! We are extremely grateful for the work our our Professional School Counselors Tomeco Dates, Dr. Monet Hawkins, and Valerie Johnson. Please help us to celebrate them by sending notes of appreciation for all that they do!
Monitoring and Accountability for Parents
We are continuing to implement efforts to monitor student achievement, and want to share with the parent community ways to support your child from home:
- Place emphasis on making sure that students have passing grades in all classes.
- Reach out to administration or professional school counselors for conferences when students fall behind.
- Establish routines at home for students to complete homework and study.
- Positively reinforce the importance of striving for achievement.
