PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
Welcome back! This has been a wonderful week welcoming students back to our school. After a bumpy start with some cold and snowy weather, we are back on track for Spring here in beautiful southwest Longmont!
Last week, the district sent an email with information regarding our upcoming CMAS testing to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families. You can find a digital copy of this letter here. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes will be testing in the mornings of April 9th-16th (5th grade will test through April 19th). This makes on time arrival at school essential for a good start to the day!
At school, we heavily emphasize that a students' role during testing is to feel proud of themselves for their effort and hard work this year, and to feel confident that they are prepared to do their best. You can help your student best prepare for success on these assessments by encouraging them to get a restful night’s sleep, eat breakfast and bring a water bottle to school. We will be providing all CMAS students a snack this year.
If possible, please avoid scheduling any appointments that might impact these testing days. We want to minimize any extra time students will be pulled from class to complete make-up tests. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about CMAS testing.
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENT'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
Today we celebrated a very special day at Eagle Crest, Mwebaza Day! For the last two years we have been fortunate to connect with our sister school in Uganda through a video call. Students are able to share songs, dances, and ask each other questions during the call. We ended the event with a “toast” of passion fruit juice (a staple in Uganda) which our students here loved! Our connection to the Mwebaza Annex school continues throughout the year with our student club, STEM design challenges, common writing prompts, art connections, and shared blog posts through the Mwebaza Foundation. We love sharing this special global connection and working with community partners to make it happen. This work highlights how we are helping students be leaders and build a better world each day!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students

PTO UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
Thank you for your participation in Tuesday’s restaurant night at QDOBA! (Final numbers are not in, but we will share on Facebook once we know the total raised!)
PTO is glad to be assisting Lisa Evans (grandma to kindergartener Daniel) in a Bike Fest at Eagle Crest Elementary School! This event will be Sunday, April 14, from 1-4 p.m. at Eagle Crest, and the whole family is invited!
Lisa, a League Certified Instructor with the League of American Bicyclists, has taught all ages--4 to 65--to ride bicycles! She needs volunteers to help make this fun and instructional event a success. Please consider giving back while Lisa leads us in a wonderful afternoon of bike safety and fun. Click here to volunteer. If you know any middle or high school students needing service hours before the end of the school year, please share this opportunity!
If you have questions about the event, please contact Lisa Evans, 970-237-1773 (call, text, whatsapp) or lisa.evans09@comcast.net. Ella habla español.
Sincerely,
Katie Lancaster, PTO President
