Weekly Bulletin
Week of 3-25-2024
Message from Principal Blagg
Good afternoon Parker Families:
We had a great week at Parker. The fifth-grade field trips to the Concord Museums have continued this week. The students are having a great time connecting this experience with their unit on the American Revolution and the museum staff have been so impressed with the interest demonstrated and the polite manner in which our students have conducted themselves. We also celebrated our March PRIDE Paw winners who were chosen from those recognized for demonstrating our core PRIDE values. The following students were recognized with a gift certificate to the school store:
Grade 5: Alaina Dubuque, Krish Garg, Connor Henry, Jake Wynne
Grade 6: Avery Cannata, Carolyn Deer, Anthony Ianuzzi, Grace Mauriello
Term 3 grades will be closing on April 2. Please check in with your child to make sure that they have all missing assignments turned in prior to this date. It can also be helpful to reach out to your child's teacher(s) with any specific questions or concerns. We are trying to develop independence and the ability to take initiative in our students. Please encourage your child to ask for help or clarification about any assignment. concept, or grade directly to the teacher. It is good practice to have those conversations one to one before or after class. In doing so students feel empowered and take ownership of their learning.
Cell Phones
As the year progresses students have started to test some of their limits. One area that is becoming a more prevalent problem is cell phones. Please have your child keep their phone at home. Cell phones hinder the learning process, distract our kids, and often cause social problems. Students found with their phone out during the school day will have the phone confiscated and the parents will need to come to school to retrieve it. I appreciate your support as we try to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Parker Cultural Diversity Night - April 11
We are excited to celebrate the rich diversity present in our school community through hosting Parker Cultural Diversity Night on Thursday April 11 from 6-7:30 pm. This is an opportunity for families in our community to share some cultural and/or ethnic traditions with the greater Parker community. Some examples of sharing could include making a poster, sharing a song or dance, sharing a favorite cultural game, and/or bringing a favorite food dish. Please see the below link to a sign up form to get involved: https://forms.gle/d48YRsN1Jxqi392a6
We envision this as a family event where the whole family is invited to attend. Please fill out the form by April 4 so that we can plan properly for this celebration.
As a school celebrating our diversity and focusing on inclusion has been a school mission and value. Please help us to celebrate and educate each other of the many rich traditions practiced within our community. We look forward to seeing you all there on April 11!
Have a great (soggy) weekend everyone! Please reach out if you need support!

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS & ACTIVITIES & LATE BUSES
Our after-school programs will start on Tuesday, October 17th. The Activity Fee is $50 per student. PLEASE CLICK ON LINK My School Bucks or send in cash or check made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools and turn into your child's homeroom teacher. The activity fee allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure students take the correct bus home. Since we only have 8 late buses, for both McCarthy and Parker the stops tend to be more spread out than the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there.
