Mountain View Weekly Update

- 8th grade parents: If you have not already done so, please review the communication re: 8th grade trip from Mrs. Toth, emailed on 10/24. Note that action is required by 11/4 to secure your child's spot.

- Important information for all parents regarding Halloween: Mountain View students will be permitted to come to school in costume on Monday, October 31 based upon the guidelines below. In advance, we appreciate you reviewing your child's costume to determine if it is appropriate for school.

• Costume masks that completely cover the face will not be permitted.
• Costumes must be aligned with the district dress code (no weapons or attire that disrupts the learning environment).

- Marking period 1 ends on November 1. Report cards will be posted to the Parent Portal on Friday, November 11.

- Cheer on the Lady Lions as they take on Mendham Township in the Girls' Soccer championship, Wednesday, November 2, 4:00 at Botti Field.

- A reminder that students will dismiss at 1:00 on November 7-9 due to Parent/Teacher conferences. Mountain View does not serve lunch on minimal days; students are permitted to bring a snack.

It’s hard to believe November is already around the corner. We are happy to see your children thriving in school!

Over the last couple of weeks, there has been a noticeable increase in absences. Flu season has arrived early this year with respiratory viruses, strep, and flu being the most common reasons for absences and visits to the health office. As a reminder, please keep your children home if they are sick and reach out to us for guidance on attending school should you have any questions or concerns.

Also, please keep us informed of the reason for your child's absence, as well as visits to their healthcare provider.

We are thankful for your continued effort to support the wellness of our schools and community!

Happy Friday Mountain View! Thank you to everyone who participated in our Red Ribbon Spirit Week, it was great to see everyone dressed up according to the themes and promoting school spirit. Today was an Advisory day- with Officer Behre as a special guest! The topic for Advisory was Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is a National Family Partnership initiative; the NFP’s mission is to help to lead and support families in promoting healthy and drug-free youth. Red Ribbon Week honors Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Kiki Camarena, who lost his life while working to eliminate illegal drugs. With the help of Mrs. Heuer and School Broadcasting students, Officer Behre answered some important questions regarding responsible decision-making and the importance of remaining Drug Free, and shared with the students the different ways that drugs can negatively impact our lives. Check out the picture below for a behind-the-scenes look! Each EEE class also had the opportunity to have follow-up discussions regarding Detective Gobbi’s Cyber Safety presentation last week. They addressed how online decisions impact different areas of our lives. All week students have been working on a Red Ribbon Week-themed door decorating contest, the winners will be decided on Monday!
