Final Edition 19-20
Final words from Principal Mrs Costello
We have celebrated World Book Day & had a wonderful Mad Hatters themed lunch all together in the hall. The house system goes from strength to strength, and all our pupils & staff have benefited from our new Mental Health & Wellbeing strategies.
Towards the end of term we welcomed the pupils from their provision at Canalside to their new learning environment at Milton School. A big thank you to our parent/carers for their engagement with Milton's learning community during the last year and particularly our Canalside parents/carers for working with us during the transition period.
Our staff and governors have worked hard to improve Milton School to become a Centre of Excellence for Autism, we thank you for all your positivity & energy during this time.
A big thank you to ICAT staff for all their support during our improvement journey.
Wishing you all a safe and happy summer break,
Mrs A Costello

End of Year House Activity Day
Sports Round Up
It has been a fun and action packed end to the school year with a busy calendar of sporting activities during the Summer Term.
The school football team kicked off the action in week 2 in an end to end match against Robert Ogden School ending 1-1. The game went to penalties to try to find a winner but teams still couldn’t be separated. All the outfield players plus the goalkeepers took penalties but neither team could take the advantage so the penalty shoot-out ended 2-2. It would have been unfair on either team to lose. The players were Luke B, Jaidyn M, Luke A, Liam W, Lachlan W, Calvin C, Louis W, Isaac W, Zac C,Noah C, Ethan F and Hayden M, The boys were a credit to Milton School.
At the end of June, 8 pupils from Year 10 attended an Adventure Challenge Day at Rother Valley Country Park. The day consisted of outdoor team work and problem solving activities with other schools from Rotherham. The group worked extremely well together, showing the ability to work as a team, think on their feet and keep calm under pressure. Pupils who attended were Logan L, Billy R, Abbie W, Alisdair F, Michael F, Alex L, Jessica C and Anthony R.
Week 4 was Sports Week at Milton. Each class had the opportunity to try activities including kinball which involved keeping a giant inflatable ball off the ground in teams, drumba – an energetic combination of drumming and zumba, quidditch – team activities based around the Harry Potter game (no broom sticks were involved, sadly!) First Aid, a fruit smoothie making exercise bike, football skills and tag rugby sessions led by players from Rotherham Titans. Thank you to all the parents, carers, family and friends who came to support our pupils on Sports Day. The weather was very kind to us and I’m sure you all agree that the children had lots of fun and plenty of exercise.
Finally, we are extremely proud of our cricket team who are the newly crowned champions of the whole of Yorkshire! The journey started in week 3 with victory in the Rotherham Schools tournament. The following week, the team finished top of the group in the South Yorkshire Games Finals at Sheffield Cricket Club. This sent the team through to the County Finals at Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club in Leeds. The team beat schools from Hull, Pontefract and Wakefield to lift the winner’s trophy after coming runners up last year. The pupils involved during the three tournaments were – Jaidyn M Liam W, Lachlan W, Calvin C, Anthony R Louis W Ethan F, Noah C, Hayden M, Taylor D Harry D
