Weatherford College opens online scholarship application!
Weatherford College has opened its online scholarship application for the 2016-17 academic year. Academic scholarships, funded by the Weatherford College Foundation, will be awarded after the March 21 application deadline.
The WC Foundation gave more than $225,000 in privately-funded scholarships in the 2014-15 academic year and is on track to surpass that amount this year.
“We have some great supporters who have given generously to help our students succeed,” said Brent Baker, WC Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Foundation. “It’s always inspiring to hear these students’ stories and know our donors’ gifts are being put to good use.”
Students can find the online application on the college’s website, www.wc.edu. Click on “Admissions & Financial Aid” and then “Scholarship Application.” The direct link is https://www.wcinstruction.net/webforms/scholarship.html.

Three WHS students earn seat in the Texas All State Choir
At WHS, we begin summer All State Workshops the first Monday in August and work until school starts. The first round is held in September. In our Region, over 150 students auditioned for each voice part to earn their way to the second round. At round 2, the top 48 are narrowed to the top 12. In the third round, those 12 are narrowed down to the top 5. Those 5 advance to the Area round. We competed this weekend with 4 other Regions that stretch from Grapevine to El Paso. These were the top 20 singers from the over 600 who began auditioning in their voice part. The top four of each voice part from each Area make the Texas All State Mixed Choir and places 5-10 make either the All State Men's or Women's Chorus. Statewide over 10,000 students auditioned for less than 300 seats in 1 of 3 All State Choirs.
These three ladies earned a seat in the Texas All State Choir for the second year in a row.
Lili Holguin 1st Chair Soprano 1 Texas All State Mixed Choir
Rachel Ward 3rd Chair Alto 1 Texas All State Mixed Choir
Emily Hatch 10th Chair Alto 1 Texas All State Women's Choir
All three students study voice with Carol Pyle and are members of WHS A Cappella Mixed Choir and Kanga Singers.
Come by the choir room to see our perennial plaque which honors every WHS Choir student who earned a place in the Texas All State Choir since its inception.

The Weatherford High School Practicum program is proud to present the newest graduates of the Certified Nurse Aid Program! This test is very challenging even for adults entering the field of medicine. Students who participate, earn a license to practice at local nursing homes, and many of the facilities in Weatherford employ WHS CNA students. Our students represent the best and the brightest of future nurses, and we love that it all started at WHS!!!
