Have you ever asked your student how his/her day was and you get one word answers? Use these questions to ask specific questions about the week and get him/her talking!

SONA is our local and professional orchestra with strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments.

This is a special opportunity for our students.

Students need to wear their band shirt on Friday. There is no cost to the students for this event.

Amazing Shake is a 2 day competition about first impressions. The 10 students who attended prepped for several months. They had to memorize a monologue, commercial and a slogan on top of handshakes, posture and other manners. This was all for just the first round called the gauntlet that has 25 challenges. The second round is called work the room where they do just that. The 3rd round is the circle of doom. They have one minute to sit with each judge who asks them questions. Dr. Fink was one of the judges in this round. After all 3 rounds their scores are added. The top 12 go to a new round for dinner. Then they are broken down into the top 4 for a debate and finally the top 2! Allly Brewer and Asher Copeland both received awards for exemplifying what the Amazing Shake is teaching. Ally Brewer made it all the way to the top 2! All our students did AMAZING and feel good about what they have learned from this experience. This is the 3rd year of NWA Amazing shake and the Soar program does an amazing job putting it together.

Some of our robotics students worked with elementary students at Rollins elementary this week. They mentored and taught them about the robotics kits they had.

Reminder: Hellstern Boys Basketball tryouts start this week and will consists of 3 days of evaluation. A copy of a valid physical must be provided in order to participate in tryouts. Physicals are valid for 1 year from the date they were done. Partcipants are expected to be present for all 3 days of evaluation. The code to join Google Classroom for current 6th graders that are interested is hliczkp.

* 7th Grade tryout dates and times:

Day 1 - March 30 from @5:15-6:45

Day 2 - April 3 @4:30-6

* 8th Grade Central Boys Basketball tryouts are scheduled for April 11 from 4:45-6 @CentralJH; must bring physical to tryouts.

PTO meeting is on Monday at 8:30. Please attend if you are interested in serving on the PTO Board next year!

Thank you for support and donations for March Hero Hangout. PTO couldn’t make that fun time for students happen without support from parents and teachers.
