January Counselor Corner

With 2nd semester just around the corner, it is time to get back on track. Finish out 1st semester with gusto. The end of the term and semester is January 25th. Check in with your teachers and make sure you have completed what is expected to meet the standards for each class.

Set goals for the rest of your school year as well. Where do you want to be by the end of the year? Not just academically but socially and emotionally. If you need any help with your schedule, understanding class expectations, or setting some personal goals- stop in and see me!

Mindfulness is the practice of gently focusing your awareness on the present moment over and over again.

Here are some mindfulness types of activities:

gratitude list

dragon breathing

bubble blowing

puzzles

crosswords

5 senses activity-

1. Listen. Name one thing that you hear when you listen with your ears.
2. Look. Name one thing that catches your attention when you look around.
3. Smell. Name a scent that you notice when you take a sniff with your nose.
4. Touch. Name an object that you enjoy feeling with your hands.

SENIORS- Make sure you are checking the school website regularly for scholarship updates.

JUNIORS- During January, you will be meeting with Mrs. Moore to discuss upcoming school year plans.

SOPHOMORES and FRESHMAN- Make sure your schedules are ready for 2nd semester.

MIDDLE SCHOOLERS- Make sure you look at your 2nd semester schedule to understand your 1st hour rotations.

If you are in need of any hygiene supplies stop in and see me.

I am available throughout the school day. I do teach a class 1st hour and MS Connect. If you would like to meet with me you can send an email, stop in the office and give Mrs. Brown your name, or complete this google form. When I have an opening, I will call you down to the office. If it is an emergency and I am not available please come to the office and ask to see Mr. Becker, Mrs. Dillin, or Mrs. Bulin.
