Spring Semester Norms for Teachers - Refresh and Recommit

When this school year began, the Reopening Task Force approved norms for all teachers at OCSA during this school year. As we prepare to bring students back to campus, OCSA Administration implores all teachers to review these norms once again, being especially mindful of the following:

Conduct instruction with the goal for student work to be completed by the end of the scheduled class time
Utilize deadline of Friday at 4:15 PM for students to submit outstanding student work not completed within the scheduled class time

What this means is that in nearly all instances, students should NOT be having to do classwork or homework outside of the time that they are in class with you, and students should NOT be assigned work to complete over the weekend.

But I can't control what students do when I don't have them live in front of me.

You're right you cannot control student actions all the time! But you can control the following:

How much work you ask them to do
Creating deadlines during class time for them to complete independent work (ex: you have time to work on this, and you need to submit this by the end of class) - this also connects to how much work you give them

Normalcy has been redefined when students return to campus on March 22.

Normalcy continually needs recalibration for those students who remain distance.

Refresh and recommit accordingly for the remainder of the year.

OCDE is offering a two-part webinar for teachers, school counselors and psychologists, and school leaders promoting care for caregivers. This no-cost, live training will cover the following topics:

Testing and vaccine appointments oh my!

As communicated over the weekend by Jena Duca, OCSA is offering no cost COVID-19 and antibody testing to OCSA staff, students, and families. Dates are scheduled for immediately before we return to in-person learning, and results should be communicated within 72 hours.

All OCSA employees can now secure COVID-19 vaccine appointments at ANY location where an appointment is available and you are able to produce proof of employment via a paystub.

Staff IDs are on campus and ready for pickup

NOTE: OCSA Employees are expected to wear their staff IDs when on the OCSA campus.

In preparation for the return to in-person learning, staff IDs for the 2020-2021 school year at the Humanities Tower receptionist desk. Please pick it up at your earliest convenience and begin wearing it on campus. Having your ID will also serve as another way to support verification of employment when obtaining a COVID vaccine at an education-specific POD.

Access Code for OCSA Employees

All OCSA Employees are assigned an access code in order to permit them to open exterior doors on campus on the following schedule:

Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM

To open an exterior door, enter the following code: 3 + (last 4 digits of your employee ID) + #

Zoom meetings for the remainder of the year in most circumstances

As we transition to in-person learning on March 22, please plan that most meetings will continue to take place via Zoom in order to comply with social distancing protocols.

Daily Health Screening Form - when to use it once in-person learning resumes

When in-person learning resumes on Monday, March 22, staff and students will be required to complete a self-assessment of their health at home before coming to work each day. Once in-person learning resumes, the Daily Health Screening Form will only need to be completed during Campus After Hour times. Please see below
