We Are Called

It was great seeing so many of you at Back to School night. I know these can be somewhat routine, but it is important that parents and teachers connect. Please don't hesitate to reach out any time you need anything. It is important for children's success to have all adults in their lives on the same page.

Fr. Pat mentioned that he will be sending out a video sometime soon. I know that he really wanted to share some things last night but our time didn't allow. Please take time to watch it when it comes.

The times I have arranged to have a space in a meeting room for those interested in discussing the book, Thrivers with other parents is Thursday before dismissal or Friday mornings after drop off. I don't plan to be at each meeting, but thought it might help to discuss it with parents. If you want to create your own time and place, we will gladly lend you the few books we have. Just send me an email at kathy.rhodes@shoj.org if you are interested.

We are starting with We Are Called children of God. God has a wonderful plan for each of us in our lives. When we cooperate with Him, our lives will be happier and have greater meaning. As you wrap up the first week and plan for the next, it might be a good time to set some goals, not for grades or accomplishments, but for exploring new interests or developing talents.

Welcome to a new school year! What a blessing it is to be back at Sacred Heart as the full time counselor! It is a great privilege to get to know your children and support them in their social and emotional needs. I look forward to teaching lessons on character and virtues to grades K-5, as well as Christian Leadership to middle school grades. I also work with students individually and in groups on topics such as coping with anxiety, making and managing friendships, increasing social skills, and more. Please reach out to me if you think your student could benefit from time with the counselor. I look forward to working with you, your children, our outstanding teachers and staff to make this a year healthy and happy.

We have had one positive and two quarantines this past week, We are continuing our mitigation strategies from last year - deep cleaning, frequent handwashing, distancing and masking. The biggest thing that keeps us all healthy is when you are sick to stay home. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Let's have a healthy year!
