WUSD School Board Meeting Summary

Below is a brief summary of major points from the Board meeting Monday, July 10. You can review the entire agenda and supporting documents by following this link. Minutes of meetings are published on BoardDocs within 45 days after a meeting is conducted.

The following three items were informational only, no action was taken.

Jim Stewart served on the WUSD School Board for almost 27 years. He was elected as a School Board Member in April, 1981, and served until April, 2002. He ran again in 2016 and was elected that April. He continued to serve until his passing on November 26, 2021. During his time with WUSD he served as a Board President for six years, Vice President for two years, and Treasurer for six years.

On August 8, 2022, the School Board reviewed the initial request of naming the High School Auditorium after Jim Stewart.

Per Policy 940, action will be taken no less than one year from the date of the request, at the next Regular Meeting, Monday, August 14, 2023.

Section 120.12(13) of the state statutes requires each school board to include an item on the agenda of the first board meeting of each school year (i.e., in July) that clearly identifies the student academic standards that have been adopted by the board under section 118.30(1g)(a)1 of the state statutes and that will be in effect for the school year.
