ÉRE Connection
November 2021
1.Remember November
November is a month to look back in hopes of inspiring a better future.
This November we pay tribute to those who served during times of war. Lest we forget. The ÉRE Remembers presentation was extremely well done and many thanks to the students, staff, and parents who contributed to the event.
We are also thinking about Chloe Kaniusis who passed Nov 21, 2014 when her vehicle was struck by an intoxicated driver. Chloe was a teacher at ÉRE and her family, friends, and school still grieve her loss. We are recognizing the MADD campaign "Never Drive Impaired". Stay safe this holiday season.
Report cards went home Nov 19. We are proud of the progress made in Term 1 and look forward to connecting with parents at Parent/Teacher Interviews Nov 24/25. Please see below for scheduling your interview time.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or ideas. We are better together.

7. Music Notes
We have already been working on our songs and presentations for our virtual Christmas concert. Students were quite excited when I announced that we would be starting Christmas music in class. There’s just something about Christmas music that is soothing and calming, yet exciting and full of anticipation all at once. :)
In Music Notes this month, I want to emphasize the importance of music in one’s life, for it has so many different purposes. When I was growing up and taking piano lessons, sitting at the piano was always great therapy for me when I was frustrated, feeling blah, or just plain bored. My mom always knew when I was playing my mad songs! But then as I played, the songs eventually came around to much more calm, happier melodies. Although I don’t get to play as often now, the same is true for me as an adult, and whether I’m going for a walk with the dog or cleaning the house, I enjoy my playlist playing in the background. Music can increase motivation, help you sleep better, improve cognitive performance, and for sure, reduce stress. To read more on this, please visit Benefits of Music.
Keep calm and keep making music,
- Mrs. McLaughlin
