Las Positas Updates
12/15/23 Volume 3 (20)
Happy Friday!
Dear Parents,
Can you believe we have one more week left of school before winter vacation? Let's end 2023 strong by ensuring our students are at school every day and on time. Attendance matters and we would love to celebrate having the highest attendance in the district one day. In the month of October, we had 94.22% attendance. In November, we had 93.06%. Can we aim for 95% attendance for the month of December?
We have many wonderful activities planned and of course so much to learn. As we continue to promote the IB Learner profile 'Balanced,' it is important for our students to know that there can be time for work AND play. But, at the same time, we must remember all our learner profiles like being 'principled' which ensures we are making responsible choices and being respectful to our peers and adults at school every day and in every way.
Have a great weekend!
IB Learner Profile 'Balanced'
An activity for promoting a BALANCED life at home...create a PIE CHART!
Sit down with your child and brainstorm ways they can spend their free time. List their weekly activities and categorize them under physical, intellectual, emotional/mental, social/relational, personal, spiritual, occupational (chores or job). Have your child create a pie chart to represent the time spent on each area. A discussion surrounding what a ābalancedā pie chart might look like (not necessarily having every slice an equal size) resulting in your child setting one goal for how they will spend their time the next week e.g. spend 5 minutes a day organizing my room (occupational).
If your child creates a pie chart, please send a photo of it so we can include it in our next newsletter, and give them a pride ticket!
Congratulations, Weekly Attendance Winners~
- Way to go~ Mrs. Anderson's class who had 99.3% in attendance. Congratulations!
