PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
I trust this message finds you well and looking forward to a fantastic weekend ahead! 🌟
I am thrilled to share some exciting highlights from our week at Eagle Crest, as we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from our area assistant superintendent, Dr. Dina Perfetti-Deany. It was a true delight showcasing the exceptional teaching and learning experiences taking place within our school.
During her visit, Dr. Perfetti-Deany had the opportunity to explore our classrooms, where she observed engaging and high-level math instruction. What stood out was our renewed emphasis on fostering academic student talk, enhancing the collaborative learning environment for our students. 🎓
Our hallways are currently adorned with vibrant displays of student artwork, creative writing, and captivating class projects. In one hallway, student-created thinking maps were displayed alongside their writing in response to literature, highlighting the effectiveness of our newly adopted curriculum and our highly trained teachers. Another hallway proudly features a display highlighting the diverse array of student-led clubs and groups, showcasing the leadership and involvement within our school community. 🎨📚
At Eagle Crest, we are committed to bringing our motto to life every day - "We are leaders. We help build a better world." It was truly enlightening to gain an outside perspective and appreciate the excellence that defines our learning environment. 🌍
Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend filled with joy and relaxation! 🌈
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
At this point in the school year, we take time to conduct our mid-year assessments. We use this assessment data to plan instruction for the remainder of the school year, track individual student growth, and target student needs for intervention or enrichment. In addition to classroom assessments, we focus on two district-wide assessments.
Kindergarteners are currently taking the DIBELS 8 reading assessment. This is conducted 1:1 with their teacher and measures their knowledge of letter names and sounds, rhyming, and word reading.
All Kindergarten through 5th grade students take the iReady digital assessment in both reading and mathematics. This is an adaptive test and students receive questions at their working level. Each assessment is broken into content specific sections and teachers use the data to pinpoint areas of need and celebrations.
Every student at Eagle Crest has been learning and growing this year! We use lots of formal and informal data to understand them as learners and to inform our instruction. We look forward to sharing student progress with you in the new year. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us.
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
