The Blair Oaks School Board approved the 2019-2020 school calendar at their meeting this week. The first day of classes in the fall is Thursday, August 15th. The calendar will be posted on the high school web page the first of next week.

Blair Oaks High School is excited to offer the following summer school classes during the May 29 - June 27 sessions.

• Physical Education: for incoming 9th as well as 10th and 11th graders, 1/2 PE credit earned, students will develop a life-long interest in sports and leisure-time activities

• Driver's Education is available to students who are 15 years of age (or older) by June 15, 2019. The course requires 30 classroom hours of study over a 5-day period plus 18 driving hours scheduled during the summer months. District students who submit the registration form and class fee will receive priority placement through April 12th.

• A+ Program: for incoming juniors and seniors, requires 50 hours of tutoring. This can be completed in one full summer school session.The student must complete one full session even if hours are complete. (There are more than 50 hours in 1 session.) The student cannot leave for camps and/or practices.

What: Cheer Tryouts for Football, Basketball & Competition

When: Monday–Thursday, March 18th–21st

Where: High School Gymnasium

Time:

• Monday – 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
• Tuesday & Wednesday – 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
• Thursday – 3:15 - 5:00 p.m.

Blair Oaks Dance Team invites you to come join the dance team. Learn the skills you will want for try outs. Find out if dance is for you.

When: Tuesdays, March 19, March 26, and April 2nd

Time: 3:15 - 4:15 p.m.

Where: Meet in the high school cafeteria

The Blair Oaks R-II School District will be hosting public informational meetings regarding the proposed new high school on Thursday, March 21 and Thursday, March 28 in the Blair Oaks Elementary School Gymnasium. Both meetings will begin at 6:00 PM. You are encouraged to come learn more about Proposition 3 (The Building) and Proposition 4 (The People). The election will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. These propositions will shape the future of the comprehensive learning environment of Blair Oaks for years to come.

Select Choir will host a fundraising concert for families and friends. Students will perform contest song collections. Blair Oaks Vocal Music is excited to announce that we will be taking two large group ensembles, the HS Select Choir and a HS Women's Choir, to Tri-County and State Vocal Contests this year. So exciting to see the students share their amazing talents!

What: Select Choir Fundraising Concert

When: Saturday, March 23, 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Where: Blair Oaks High School Gym

Cost: Free, donations accepted to support the upcoming Nashville trip

Various items will be available for purchase such as choir t-shirts, tumblers, candy, cards and cds. We will also hold fun raffles with exciting prizes!

Where: Gymnasium at St. Stan

When: Sunday, March 24, 2019

Time: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Our community is fortunate to host 4 blood drives this year. Three have been at Blair Oaks High School, and the next one will be at St. Stan. We started this endeavor to bring more blood drives to the area in hopes to save more lives. Thank you for being a part of our life saving efforts.
