Please be re minded that we will be hosting Family Appreciation Day on May 26, 2021. Details are on the flyer below, under "Previous Updates". Parents/guardians may stop by the school to pick up a small token of gratitude, for your partnership throughout this school year.

Thank you to all of our families who have already enrolled for the 2021-2022 school year. Your timely enrollment truly supports us in planning for the upcoming school year. Available resources and class sizes may be impacted. So, if you have not enrolled, please do so and reach out to hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov, if any support is needed.

Hyde-Addison Elementary School

Students have worked incredibly hard this year and we want to help them maintain their gains over the summer. Research tells us that the best way for students to maintain and even improve their reading skills over the summer is to choose books of interest and spend lots of time reading them.

One way our school will be supporting summer reading is by hosting a virtual Scholastic Book Fair from 5/31-6/13. Please take this brief (1 minute) survey for each student that attends Hyde about your summer reading plans so that we know how we can best support your students’ reading journey over the summer.

• Be on the lookout for additional students and parents
• Expect more traffic during pick-up and drop off times
• Reduce driving speed in School Zones
• Cross the street at the crosswalk
• Obey the crossing guards directions

Please note that due to traffic flow and limited parking, families should not park in the staff lot nor temporarily drive into the lot to wait for students or turn around.

End of the year testing is critical to our success at Hyde Addison. We support all learners through rigorous, student-centered learning and assessment is essential to evaluate student growth.

Formal assessments at Hyde Addison provide useful data to assess student progress, highlight academic achievements of our learners and support intentional small-group and intervention planning for the upcoming school year.

Assessments will be administered between May 17-June 15 in Math, Reading and Writing. Some assessments are computer-based and will be completed in the whole-group setting, while others are 1:1. Your students’ teacher will provide specific dates when your student is being assessed. We thank you for your support and flexibility, as this may interrupt the daily schedule.
