Ridgeview STEM Junior High
APRIL 12, 2019
may is make a difference month
Ridgeview Junior High School believes that learning happens both inside and outside of the classroom. We believe in providing students with authentic learning opportunities that provide real world connections.
By participating in activities in the Columbus and Pickerington communities, we align with our STEM focus of service learning. By learning through service, the students will make connections through multiple disciplines and engage in innovative thinking and problem solving. We believe that service learning also promotes and builds positive relationships between the school and the community.
Every May, Ridgeview students, staff, and parent volunteers go into the Pickerington and surrounding communities and do volunteer work. We hope you will consider marking your calendar to join us on May 22nd to volunteer to chaperone a group of students as they serve. You will be partnered with Ridgeview teachers and staff and your role would be to assist; the work is performed by the students. It is a positive experience, both for the student volunteers, as well as those for whom the work is being done. Examples of sites we have done are: yard work & cleaning windows for the elderly, preparing meals on wheels for LifeCare Alliance, reading to elementary students, washing cruisers and service vehicles for the Police and Fire departments, cleaning up recreational facilities for PYAA, sorting clothing donations for a Clothing Pantry, packing lunches for a homeless shelter, and much, much more.
If you can volunteer your time on May 22, please contact the school office or email melissa_morehart@plsd.us
We are once again selling t-shirts to be worn on May 22nd. Shirts are $6, but you can add an additional donation of any amount on the TSHIRT ORDER FORM. Proceeds from the shirts will go toward a Haiti Meal Packaging project which one of the work teams will be doing on M.A.D.D. You may also opt to purchase a t-shirt to donate and we will make sure it goes to a student who may not be able to afford to buy one. Thank you in advance.
