Virtual School Application Waitlist
Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) is excited to welcome our students back to in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year. We are taking all available safety precautions, such as requiring masks, promoting vaccinations and continuing COVID-19 testing measures.
This fall, PGCPS will administer a temporary Virtual Learning Program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade and launch a new Online Campus for seventh- through 12th-graders. Although the application window for both programs has passed, given the rise of the delta variant, many families have recently expressed interest in virtual learning options.
PGCPS has opened a waitlist for families interested in the Virtual Learning Program and has a limited number of seats available in the Online Campus.
Online Campus (7-12) applications must be received no later than Tuesday, August 17 at 11:59 p.m. Applications for the Virtual Learning Program (K-6) are due Friday, August 20 at 11:59 p.m.
Please know that it may not be possible to accommodate all recent requests. Adding students will depend on hiring additional staff, which may be challenging so close to the start of the new school year. PGCPS will make every effort to accommodate as many students as possible. However, if there is no space available in the programs, students will be expected to attend classes in person.
K-6 Virtual Learning Program
The Virtual Learning Program will end once the COVID-19 vaccine is available for children under the age of 12. In this program, students will receive live virtual instruction five days per week following a comparable elementary/middle school bell schedule. PGCPS will notify families of their acceptance status by Monday, August 30.
7-12 Online Campus
The Online Campus is designed for students who want to enroll permanently in virtual learning. Please note that students may not enroll in other speciality programs or charter schools while attending the Online Campus. PGCPS will notify families of their acceptance status by Tuesday, August 24.
