Community Update from Principal Griffin
Dear Erie High School families,
I enjoyed another great week at Erie High School. With just three weeks remaining until Spring Break, this is an important time for our students to maintain heightened focus on their learning and growth. I am grateful for your partnership in supporting your child’s success.
This week, we concluded our winter sports season. Congratulations are in order for all of our winter sports programs for their successful campaigns. I am proud of the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes competing in swimming & diving, girls & boys wrestling, and unified, girls, & boys basketball - you all showed tremendous growth and determination throughout the season!
Good luck to the Erie High School Vex Robotics teams that will be competing at the Colorado state championships on March 1st and 2nd at Kent Denver High School. Three Erie High School teams will be competing at the state level against the top 32 teams in Colorado, with a chance to earn a spot to compete at the Vex 2024 World Championships in April. Good luck to teams 3742A, 3743C, and 3743Z in this high level of competition.
We are also just under two weeks away from the debut of the 2024 Erie High School Theatre Department’s spring musical production of Catch Me If You Can. Our students and teachers have been working hard throughout the winter to prepare for what will surely be an outstanding performance. Students and families interested in attending one of four shows between March 7-9, please visit the EHS Theatre ticket webpage.
Monday, February 26th is the official start of the spring sports season. We expect well over 300 Erie High School students to compete in at least one spring sport. Good luck to our student-athletes participating in girls soccer, girls tennis, girls golf, track & field, boys lacrosse, and baseball this spring.
Tuesday, Erie High School is hosting an informational session for eligible seniors for a new program designed to help students engage in college-level courses following their 12th-grade year ASCENT (Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment) is available to students who have completed 9 or more credits of concurrent enrollment or have AP test scores equivalent to 9 credit hours (college coursework) during their four years in high school. If you're intrigued and eager to learn more, we invite you to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 5-6pm in the Tiger Den, where we will discuss the ASCENT program, eligibility requirements, and provide insight into its unique features. You can also find more information on our SVVS ASCENT Webpage.
I am very proud of the great work of our students both in and out of the classroom thus far in the school year. The community support we receive for our academic, athletic, performing arts, and extracurricular programs is outstanding, and plays a vital role in the success of our students. I hope that you and your family enjoy a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
Erie High School Principal
