LHS Weekly Update
January 15, 2024
TUESDAY, JANUARY 16th ONLINE LEARNING DAY INFORMATION
Due to the National Weather Service’s wind chill warning that forecasts extreme cold temperatures, with wind chills as low as -35 degrees through late Tuesday morning, January 16, will be an inclement weather online learning day for all students, and schools will be closed to in-person learning. Click here to access Tuesday’s online learning schedule. During online learning days due to inclement weather, families may still call the school to obtain an excused absence for their student.
As the weather advisory also states that the weather will be warming up significantly by Tuesday afternoon, we are able to allow some high school after-school athletics and activities to continue as scheduled. Please look for additional information from your student’s high school regarding after-school activities.
While the timing and severity of these arctic fronts are difficult to predict with 100% accuracy, the district will be implementing our shortened online learning day out of an abundance of caution due to severe cold weather impacts on buses, as well as the number of students who walk to school.
