Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Year 7 DT
Year 10 - Gus
Gus in Year 10 has broken two world records with the British Powerlifting Federation. He has broken the Deadlift and Squat records lifting 210kg and 200kg in an event on August 22nd. Congratulations Gus and good luck in your upcoming European Competitions!

Subject Highlights:
Mr Lee would like to nominate 9TE for their exceptional efforts upon their return to school. They showed determination and resilience in the sports festival last week. This week, they have been mature and dedicated to the election project.
Mr Horne has nominated the following students for excellent work this week:
Aleksandra Year 7, Sandra Year 8, Tanya Year 9 and Julia Year 10.
English:
Ms Hallybone has nominated Year 10 students Annie, Erin, Tom, Gabi, Alicja, Nathan and Holly for fantastic contributions in English this week. Excellent comments about the poem ‘London’. Also nominated are the Drama grab a grade students who have been working on their coursework (a devising project) and making fantastic progress. Ms Hallybone is really proud of them all for being so dedicated and creative.
Mrs Rice would like to say well done to Year 10 for their fantastic transactional and creative writing in the English Language Grab a Grade.
Mrs Brown would like to say well done to 7CA for a great PE lesson this week. Mrs Brown really enjoyed it! Also well done to Year 10 for this week's grab a grade. You did some great work.
Music:
Year 7
Anton P (7CU) – for demonstrating excellent patience, despite facing IT challenges!
Year 8
Liam M (8TA) for creating an excellent piece on Garageband which he shared with the class.
Science:
Congratulations to all the Year 7’s for their absolutely fabulous behaviour and engagement during their first double practical lesson. They spent 2 lessons working in the lab, which is the first time since they have been to CTS. During these lessons, they all earned their Bunsen Burner Lighting Licence and investigated the energy transfer from different types of flames. All the Science Staff cannot wait for all of our lessons to be in the labs.
Miss Kritzinger has nominated Maisie R, Oskar G, Gretil B, Veronika R for some excellent Science participation this week.
DT:
Mr Harley has nominated 7ST for their excellent team work during the Rocket racing. Also nominated are Year 10 Engineers who successfully completed the material testing this week, it was great to be back in the workshop with them and Year 12 Design Engineers for working hard on their live NEA project during the grab a grade session.
MFL:
Miss Graziano has nominated Dolton, Finlay D, Lexi, Beau and Emma-May from 10CSp2 for working really hard during the Spanish grab a grade and producing some incredible responses in Spanish.
Mrs Sahota has nominated Year 10 students Darcey, Jenna, Saul, Annie, Sai, Nathan and Cameron on their great effort and focus applied in Grab a grade this week with their speaking conversation preparation.
Humanities:
Mrs Vaghadia has nominated Year 8 for their fantastic contribution and work towards the Year 8 elections last week. The forms were involved for the first time in creating a social media campaign for their political party which was recorded. The forms presented their ideas clearly and put a great deal of effort into their campaigns, well done to you all!
Year 9 have been involved in their elections this week and have got off to a flying start. Some forms are already very ahead of schedule and have created excellent campaign material. These students have shown great team work, leadership skills and communication skills all which are key in their development as a young people. Mrs Vaghadia is extremely proud of the work put in by Year 8 and 9, keep it up!
Miss Gilbert has made the following nominations this week:
Mauricio (7CU) for fully taking part in the First Aid session and helping and assisting other students within it. Bianca and Rhys (8TE) for showing commitment to their studies in Geography throughout the past year.
Well done to Aimee Leigh and Neva (9CO) for showing commitment to the election campaign throughout the past week and finally well done to Year 10 students Danny and Emily for completing the climate graphs in lesson and then moving on to the practice question booklet.
Mr Strumpher would like to say well done to 10C for their dedication and hard work in the grab a grade sessions. Well done to everyone. Also nominated are 8CO for their excellent research and presentation skills on climate change. They were given a research task to create a PowerPoint about research on climate change and focus on natural and human causes and also how we can manage climate change.
PE:
Our PE team have made the following nominations this week:
Sam M (10CA) for his excellent leadership shown in the Sport Festival
Logan, Amy and Dougan (7TA) for the excellent work in PE.
A huge well done to all students last week for their conduct at the Sport Festivals, every student competed in the manner in which the competitions were intended and behaved impeccably.

- School will be closed for the Summer Bank Holiday on Monday 30th August. ALL students will return to school on Tuesday 31st August.
