Celebrate Literacy Week 2022: Launch Into Literacy: Blast Off Into New Worlds
It’s time to celebrate literacy!
Celebrate Literacy Week will be held from January 24th to January 28th. The theme this year is “Launch Into Literacy: Blast Off Into New Worlds ” To celebrate, @PascoLiteracy has created a week of themed activities that celebrate literacy and what it means to launch into literacy.
Join the Office for Leading and Learning as we celebrate literacy our love for literacy by participating and tweeting your pictures to @PascoLiteracy. Be sure to tag #PascoLiteracy. We can’t wait to celebrate alongside you!

Pasco Students Speak
- The Office for Leading and Learning is hosting the second official #PascoStudentsSpeak event for all students. We are excited to invite all schools and students to showcase their speeches, projects, and positivity. The event will take place at the WCHS Performing Arts Center on Saturday, 4/2.
- The theme for this year is Contributing to a Better Society: The Future Depends on It
- In secondary students can use the work from their History Project: Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences
- Each school's representative to participate in the district #PascoStudentsSpeak must be submitted to the district no later than Friday, March 11, 2022. Additional details are forthcoming.
- This notebook includes general information about the event, as well as resources for teachers and students as they engage in preparing for this important work and showcasing it at the #PascoStudentsSpeak event.

Here you will find the office hours schedule for second semester. Office hours are an opportunity to connect with OLL Supervisors, Senior Specialists and Program Coordinators regarding your curriculum questions. We look forward to seeing you.
ChalkTalk Bootcamp Information- Grade 11-12
The ChalkTalk-Pasco Bootcamp will begin after February 18th and will run until your District test dates (ACT March 29th non-reportable, SAT March 2nd reportable). You can tweak around that if you have additional school testing dates.
For the Bootcamp implementation, we'll have two options for the schools:
- Focus on Practice Sessions, & here's an article discussing how to review the overall practices.
- Focus on Review Classes, & here's an article discussing what Review Classes are, and how to add them to the calendar.

Reading Endorsement
We are excited to announce a new pathway for obtaining a reading endorsement. FCRR's Reading Foundations and Evidence-Based Practices Reading Endorsement Pathway is a new face-to-face option. This pathway will be for those who have not yet begun to take any of the reading endorsement courses. The full pathway must be taken face-to-face. We will begin with Competencies 1 & 2, details can be found here.
Florida Literacy Association Professional Learning Opportunity
Greetings District Literacy Leaders,
After two years, the Florida Literacy Association (FLA) is excited to host our first in-person professional learning experience on Saturday, February 5th at the Morgridge International Reading Center at UCF. This is going to be a great chance to come together, collaborate, and grow our collective knowledge around literacy education in ways that matter for our readers and writers.
As appropriate, please help us in making one final push for registration before our deadline on January 4, 2022.
