Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! The Equity Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force will be sharing our first newsletter of the 2022-2023 school year, highlighting some amazing resources, with a focus on Hispanic Heritage. The Task Force will also host its first virtual meeting of the school year on September 30, 2022 at 4:00pm. Please email Hyde.Addison@k12.dc.gov, if you are interested in joining the team.

Additionally, we are so excited to see you all at Art All Night, this evening! Details are shared below.

Art All Night- TONIGHT!

Hyde-Addison is on the activation schedule for Art All Night, taking place on Friday, September 23rd from 5:30pm-11pm. Details here: Georgetown Art All Night (georgetownmainstreet.com)

5:30pm - 6:15pm : The Great Zucchini performance

5:30pm - 7:30pm: Seven rotating hands-on activities for elementary age children hosted by Hyde-Addison ES Teachers. Examples include:

• A Collaborative Mural
• Printmaking
• Rock Painting
• Wearable art
• and more!

Congratulations to the Hyde-Addison Cross Country Team!

We want to shout out members of our Cross Country team! All of our students who participated in the first meet finished and Maeve won second overall in the race! Most importantly, our students demonstrated Hyde-Addison's core values, were good sports, and ran hard. A special thank you to our wonderful coaches, Coach Link and Coach Viltz, who have worked tirelessly with our young athletes.

Student Mental Health Services: Parent/Family Referrals

School mental health services and supports are an effective means of addressing the mental health needs of children and improving the learning environment. Click here if you would like to refer a student for mental health or counseling support provided by Ms. Stovall. Referrals will be processed by the Mental Health Team and staff will receive communication and updates regarding services.

2022 DCPS Standing Ovation Award

Hyde-Addison ES has received a coveted 2022 DCPS Standing Ovation Award for “Building the Bridges for Students and Families” as presented by the DC ED Fund. Bridges are essentially about granting access and creating opportunities for those who might not otherwise have them. At Hyde-Addison ES, our “High 5” Priorities are grounded in building bridges. Our equity and antiracism work has been at the forefront of our efforts. We are a diverse school community with many families from around the world and from every Ward in the District. With access and exposure to superb instructional practices and whole child supports, we have continued to narrow opportunity gaps for students and prove that all children can grow and achieve. This has been a team effort and we thank you all. Well done, Hyde-Addison Elementary School Community. Congratulations!

Early Dismissal

Parents/Guardians must be at the main entrance of the school building before 2:55pm to pick up students for early dismissal.

On Time Arrival and Dismissal

All students should be in their class lines by 8:30am. Tardies are recorded and monitored. All students should be picked up at 3:25pm. Families that are running late in the afternoon must call the front office to inform them of what time they anticipate arriving to ensure the safety and emotional well-being of the children.

PLEASE do NOT park in the kiss and ride.

There is typically parking available on the side streets and on P street. But, families may not park in the Kiss and Ride and legal parking on O St. is certainly limited.

If you would like a Kids Ride Free Card for your student, please fill out this short form. They will be sent home in students' backpacks on Mondays.

Family Library Mornings

We are excited to open the library up to families so that you can pick out book with your child on their class's assigned day. Please see below for the date and time!

School Meals- Payments and Details

All students have access to free breakfast and do not need to sign up or register. Information about lunches is more nuanced, based on family circumstance, and can be found here, including how to add funds to your student's account. Families that do not qualify for free or reduced meals click HERE for meal price information and payment.

What Immunizations are Required for Students?

To attend school, students must be current with their immunizations. Immunization compliance is documented by submitting a completed Universal Health Certificate to the school at the time of enrollment. A series of medical forms, DCPS School Enrollment Packet.pdf, should be turned in to the school as part of the enrollment process, and any updated forms throughout the school year should be submitted to the school nurse.
