Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Believe Big 2019

Annie, from 7billionideas launched Believe Big 2019 at Corby Technical School this week. It's a competition where students are challenged to develop potentially life-changing products.

CTS Winners

Winners in 2018 were Year 9 students EJS who achieved overall first place with fantastic idea called 'Don't Crash. BREATHE' which was focused on reducing drink driving.

Cyberfirst Girls Competition

Well done to these students who participated in the CyberFirst Girls competition last week. They solved a number of very challenging cyber security puzzles and demonstrated excellent commitment, resilience and teamwork.

Miss Connellan has nominated Year 11 student Tyler for amazing effort in English.
Mrs Ferns has nominated Year 7 student Izabela and Year 8 students Daisy and Holly for fantastic effort and progress in Maths.
Mr Cox has nominated 10C for their brilliant form assembly this week.
Mrs Brown has nominated her Year 13 English Langugage group for the excellent start on the new language change topic, with special mention to Kara for her commitment to the topic.
Mr Gourlay has nominated the following students who took part in the recent Cyberfirst Girls competition, Year 10 students, Hana and Abbie and Year 8 students Julia, Reese, Hallie, Holly, Lexi, Jasmine, Sophie, Alice, Emma Gabriela, Daisy and Emily.
Mr Harley would like to thank you to Jack, Elle and Maddie for taking part in the Tutor time chat show, hosted by Mr Harley in the S house assembly about resilience. Jack spoke about his scuba diving, Elle spoke about skiing experience and Maddie informed everyone of what it is like to be in the army cadets. The audience had the opportunity of ask questions to the guest to find out more information about their exciting hobbies.
Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 8 students Lana and Kornelia for great contributions to form time. Also nominated is Year 9 student Lacy for great effort during a Science lesson on vectors and scalars.
Miss McGrath has nominated the Year 9 Biologists for developing their practical skills during the recent antibiotics lesson. Also nominated is Year 8 student Thomas for his continued hard work and dedication to Science.
Mrs Hopkins has nominated Year 11 student Harry for his commitment and effort in his lessons this week to help him progress in his History GCSE.

Art at CTS

The last few terms have been a busy time in Art. Students have been exploring a range of artists including Frederick Hundertwasser and Henry Moore.

Attendance Matters

Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.

Whole school attendance this week is 94.5%, we hope to see a vast improvement next week.

The tutor groups with the highest attendance this week is 9T with 98.07%, well done to Mr Braans and 9T.
