For the past month, Ms. Buckler, Leave Replacement School Counselor has been contributing to all things Nixon School. While Mr. Swanson confirmed a leave of absence this week that will extend through the end of this school year, Ms. Buckler has accepted employment elsewhere. Ms. Buckler is thanked for her service to our community and wished well in her professional journey. As our district looks to secure the services of another Leave Replacement School Counselor, I would ask that you direct any specific school counseling communication to Mrs. Mann, Director of Guidance, at mmann@roxbury.org with a CC to me, at dlynch@roxbury.org.

I remain hopeful that I will have a new Leave Replacement School Counselor to introduce to you in next week's Check In.

Every August, our district hosts a new teacher orientation. This year as a way to kick-off the series of training days, the district is looking to have students from each of the schools share with the new hirees "what it means to live and go to school in Roxbury?". For Nixon School, we are being asked to have TWO students share their thoughts to this question, in person at Eisenhower Middle School on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 8:30 - 8:45 AM. If your child would like to be a part of this presentation, please complete this Google Form and submit by Friday, April 29, 2022. Two students will be randomly selected to a participate in this experience. Thank you!
