Ivan Green Weekly Update

Dear Ivan Green Families:

This week's message is coming today (Thursday), since we do not have school tomorrow. We are off tomorrow, November 10, for Veterans Day.

The District issued a schedule change late this week. Please note that there will be NO SCHOOL on NOVEMBER 20. This was originally a half day but will now be a full day off. The morning time will be used for teachers' professional development.

We have rescheduled our Bivona Child Safety Info Night for caregivers. It will now be Thursday, November 9 from 6PM-7PM at Laurelton Pardee Intermediate School. This event is for families of students from kindergarten through fifth grade.

Maker’s Day is held once a month in the library and encourages students to create and work together at various creation stations. All of the Maker’s Days this year will focus on collaboration which aligns with our AVID school goals. Students hear a story for inspiration that day and then choose a station. In October, students listened to the story The Little Red Fort and chose from Legos, snap toys, Magni tiles, tinker toys and a light box. Here are some second graders collaborating with their peers and some of their creations. In November students will listen to Bear Came Along and will collaborate with their peers at various creation stations.
