Computer Science Opportunities for Rural Teachers!
The Rural Opportunities in Computer Science (ROCS) project will recruit and support a cohort of up to 15 educators who currently do not teach computer science to grow their CS knowledge and skills, enabling them to teach high school computer science courses via the Microsoft FarmBeats curriculum. This resource has been aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agriculture, 6th grade Technology Applications, 7th grade Science, and 8th grade Science.

Registration priority will be given to classroom teachers of middle grades science, technology applications, STEM, and/or ag science courses.
FarmBeats for Students is a hands-on educational program that brings precision agriculture directly into the classroom. The program consists of an affordable hardware kit and a no-cost curriculum aligned with rigorous educational standards. Activities have been designed to give students direct experience with topics like digital sensors, data analysis, and artificial intelligence (AI). Cultivating a new generation of talent in these fields will be critical to feed a growing population while conserving the planet’s limited resources. FarmBeats for Students empowers educators to inspire their students with the exciting possibilities at the intersection of technology, agriculture, and sustainability
Participating teachers will receive a $600 stipend and 5 Microsoft Farm Beats Kits after completing the 2-day training. Lunch will be provided both days of training.
