The Bear Necessities

*Winter temperatures arrived with a vengeance this week. Please make sure your child has a coat, hat, and gloves when they come to school. Students will continue to have outdoor recess as long as the "real feel" is 10° or above.

*Please label each piece of your child's winter gear with his/her name.

*All classes have started their December charity projects. Please check with your child's teacher on their grade level project.

*Please be reminded to call Miss Alice in the elementary office if your child will be absent.

*We are seeing an increase in sickness at school, please continue to encourage your children to wash their hands, get good rest, and eat healthy.

*Tuesdays and Thursdays are homework pick up & drop off days for students that are absent for an extended period of time.

*Please be reminded that students can not return to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours.

*The Main Street traffic lights are still not working, so we continue to utilize the rolling stop sign. Please be extra cautious when passing the school during arrival and dismissal times.

Many thanks to our families that participated in our Preschool Family Night on Tuesday, November 30th. We had a great turn out!

The families that attended had a great time participating in a variety of math and literacy games. There was also a photo book, face painting, and holiday sugar cookies.

Our Preschool staff did a great job putting on this year's family night. Thanks to all!

All grade levels at Danville Elementary are participating in a December Charitable Giving project. Listed below are each grade level's projects this year.

Preschool & Kindergarten: The Des Moines County Humane Society

1st Grade: The Danville Care Center

2nd Grade: Hope Haven

3rd Grade: The Cupboard (Formerly Kayla's Cupboard)

4th & 6th Grades: PAWS Animal Shelter

5th Grade: Angel Tree Project

This is a great way for our students to learn about the importance of giving back.
